Cannot connect wirelessly to my Linksys WRT160n, but wired works

I have comcast cable internet(12Mbps) and I bought the Linksys WRT160n router yesterday and set it up in my living room so that I can access internet through my laptop. But I cannot connect to the router wirelessly. I can see it in available networks but when I try to connect to it, it says "windows cannot connect to "MLFATTY"(network name). When I connect to the router with a network cable, it works well.
Any help..
Thanks

WAN connection problems with Linksys WRT160N

1.) Have you setup the router for use on cable modem?

2.) Run Your Setup utility that came on the CD for the router. And select Dynamic under the WAN settings unless you have a static IP address.

3.) If you do not have the CD to access the setup use IE Browser type 192.168.1.1. Select WAN settings and then Dynamic from the list.
4.) Make sure your computers are using the router and not the cable modem. Reboot your PC's and verify they work if they don't open the internet connections and view the gateway is 192.168.1.1?

Here is a link to the manual

Although cable to desktop connects to internet, my router from desktop to laptop via router won't connect.

Desk top to internet is OK.
How about Destop through Router connection to Internet OK?
Assuming you want to connect wireless from Lap top to Network, need to configure correctly for wireless in Router.
If you connect Lap top to router by wire and it didn't work that mean your router is bad.

Limited or no connectivity to the internet. my setup: the telephone port is approx 30m from where i need internet access. Originally I had a dlink wireless router set up but was connected via cable, now...

On which port of the D-link router did you plug the WRT160N router?

Do this setup.

Disconnect the WRT160N from D-link.

Connect a computer to port 1 of the WRT160N. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. you may need to type in the username and password for WRT160N. on the setup page Change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. save the settings.

Connect a cable from port 1,2,3 or 4 of the D-link router to the Internet port of the WRT160N. turn off everything then turn them on starting from cable modem>D-link >WRT160N then computer.

You should be able to access the internet.
