Samsung replaced TV in '08 for the same problem in addition to the green vertical lines going up and down the screen. Warranty ran out 3/09 and TV started the distortion in May. TV turns on with a very distorted picture, improper shading (all black or discolored on part of the screen) or sometimes goes to all black (like AV1 mode) but you can still hear the sound. Additionally, there are four large horizontal separations across the entire screen that further distort the picture. Once the TV warms up, however, everything clears up and works fine. Very bizarre especially since Samsung replaced the TV last year and the same problem is occuring. Please help. Any recalls?

My 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV HP-R4252 has a 2" vertical strip of green pixels down the right side of the screen.
My 3 year warranty with Circuit City expires in Nov 2008.. so I hope I'm covered.. can't call until the morning.
Samsung said it might be a logic board problem.. but they want almost $2000 to fix. I might as well buy another TV if Circuit City can't fix it.

Wow same here but mine is red I know its because of the plasma bulb is wearing out and for my fix is $1000 but I didn't do want to go on so I tried to change the color settings and tried RGB to all 0 and it became fine. Well at least you have a cool blue screen, mine is red.

It sounds like an Intergrated Circuit (IC) has fried. Even on a good day, this is not something you can attack at home. As a tech (and as an owner of that model samsung), I'd need a map & tools to know what's going on. Your best bet in this situation is to contact Samsung and let them recommend an authorized service center in your area. Sorry I can't be of more help, but this is a rather serious problem.

Your plasma screen is made up of 1080 verticle lines and now a few of these lines are not working. This is the screen itself and needs replacing.
