This is a TOUGH problem. You must dismantle the scanner. ( it is basically glued and melted together ). or send it in for repair. I was able to do this for an HP, but its reletivly large, and was screwed together.

Why are pages scanning with lines running through them, but printing perfectly fine?

Try cleaning the rollers. Usually you have to remove the cartridge to get to the rollers that moves the paper.

A. Transfer roller is contaminated.
B. Pressure roller is contaminated.

Solution

1. Perform the DRUM Cleaning Mode Print 2 or 3 times. Run Self-Test to remove the contamination
of the transfer roller.
2. Replace the transfer roller if contaminated severely.
3. Disassemble the fuser and clean the H/R(Heat Roller) and P/R(Pressure roller).
And check the area between H/R and Thermistor. If contaminated, clean the area not to be deformed.

The passenger side headlight on 20001 vw beetle

You may have corrosion from winter weather. Bulb socket would be 1st place to check.
  • Locate the headlight housing on the right
  • A gray or black plastic handle which looks like a pull handle.
  • Beside the pull handle there will be a knurled pad which needs to be depressed before you pull the release
  • Press it and same time pull the release the opposite direction, this will unlock the handle
  • While pulling further you'll notice the housing will slide out of the car
  • Remove connector before fully removing the housing out
  • Open back side of case
  • Bulb will have a wire lock on the socket
  • Any contact with bulb glass will leave some form of residue, oil, debris and other contaminants on the glass and cause it to fail 100% of the time
  • Always dip the bulb in alcohol solution (de-natured) to remove all contaminants
  • Reverse procedure to put it back

LINE THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE PAGE

After making sure all is clean, you need to power off and on again so that the scanner calibrates to a clean glass. If there was something blocking the last time it was powered on it will make streaks until you power cycle the machine.

Fax doesnt work right

Either a section of your l.e.d. array is dead (lights that light up under the sheet feeder when scanning), or the scanner glass under the sheet feeder is VERY dirty, but it's unlikely that it would be that contaminated. You can try cleaning it, but my money is on the LED's

Color streaks on ADF feed.

Sounds like a dirty seal glass.
The small srtip of glass on the left side of the scanner.
Clean it well.
If there is no streak when scanning on the flad bed portion, then there is most likely a small almost non visible contaminant on the seal glass.
Use a regular piece of 20 pound paper crumpled with some glass cleaner or alcohol and clean that glass thorughly

Streaks on paper

Nisha... If you haven't done so already, you need to run a few copies off the glass as opposed to through the feeder to determine "where" your problem is. Do the copies of your originals placed on the glass have the same line/streak defects as the ones made run through the feeder? IF NOT, then you probably have some sort of dirt or contamination on the FAR RIGHT side of the glass (ink, white-out, dirt, etc), and the machine is reading that as part of the image and printing it as a line. When running copies through the feeder, the scanner moves to the far right and parks there. Then the feeder moves the original over the scanner on the right side of the glass (the scanner stays still). So if you find the lines evident when using the feeder, but not there when copying off the glass, you need to clean the glass on the far right. IF YES (lines/streaks through the feeder AND off the glass), then your problem is most likely internal of the machine (bad drum in the L50 cartridge, dirty optical scanner, worn fuser rollers, etc) and I hate to say it, but will probably require a service call to rectify it. Sometimes you can actually take the L50 cartridge out immediately after running a few copies, and while holding it up, manually open the spring-loaded drum shutter on the under-side of the cartridge to expose the drum and visually inspect it to see if the line defects on your copies are evident on the drum itself. If so, you will most likely need to simply replace your cartridge and hopefully save a service call. If you can't really tell if the streaks are on the drum itself, then you're back to probably needing a service call. NOTE: DO NOT TOUCH, WIPE, CLEAN, OR OTHERWISE CONTAMINATE THE DRUM WHILE YOU ARE DOING THIS, and do not leave the unit exposed to light for longer than a minute or so, because if the problem isn't evident/obvious with the drum cartridge, you don't want to risk damaging/contaminating it and thereby causing one. Please let me know if any of this was helpful. Thanks.
