Hitachi 60'' rear projection wont power on

With set unplugged remove rear cover and follow the power cord to the fuse--good or bad? This set should also have some led lights there that are green or red---look to see if any are lit or if when plugged in with back removed which come on or go off instantly, the reason I ask is those are each tied to a voltage source and will point to where the problem MAY be.

All of this involves some testing:

I would remove back cover and look at the several green LED's on the board and the red one as well.

The red one should be lit and the green ones should light when set is turned on; primitive self check as each green one is tied to a voltage in the set's internal power supply.

Usually when an electrical hit parts at the in to the power supply get taken out.

Got a red led lit on the board?

This like all sets has standby power supply built into it: some sources are active 7/24 even if set is off and they usually take the hit.

Not knowing if you have a voltmeter and or know how to check I would suggest look at the led lights on the board.

There are four leds used for diagnosing inside the TV 3 are green and 1 is red. Are they lit up?

Power board is bad.. I had the same issue.

not a solution but i have a 50gx30b doing something similar, no picture no sound, 3 green leds are lit up on the main board and then one red led lit up also on main board, front panel red led stays on for about 30 -50 seconds and then it all shuts off, I then have to unplug and replug to get the same results.

It could either be a fuse inside the tv near the power supply board or the power supply board is bad.

Hitachi has LED’s, green ‘lights’ and a red light to determine what circuit may be the problem; after removing the back of TV, bottom only, plug TV back in and observe which LED’s come on …..BUT most important which LED’s don’t come on; locate and note number, EG; DP37 and etc.

RED light is protect circuit = do not disable !
Look for C702 near flyback transformer - might be hidden in
glue = check it = if shorted, replace 102K / 2KV with 3KV =
Sony part # 1-161-754-00 and replace E994 pico fuse.....T.

Most likely have a regulator problem. Remove rear cover, look down on the main chassis, turn tv on watch the board to have some colored led's lit, usually a red one and couple of green. If the red is out, its your regulator, if a green one other problems off the circuit with green led are causing the tv not to power up.
