My Maytag Atlantis washer keeps intermittently filling with water, whether the load is going or even when the machine is on the ''off'' position. Each fill is about a minute apart, and lasts about 7 seconds. I replaced the inlet valve, and checked the pressure switch/tube, and they seem fine. The water does not keep filling until it overflows... it just fills on and off until it reaches the point of a normal wash load, then stops. When I unplug the machine it stops. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Maytag Atlantis screeches @ end of spin cycle,

may be something stuck in the drum or a segment raised on the motor. to test either remove the belt and spin the drum if no noise then the motor is faulty. if a noise then there may be a bra wire between the drum/tub.

Water won't stop running in at end of cycle, keeps filling up and overflows

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of an intermittent water control valve- sometimes closes too soon (its physical fail position is closed) or sticks open too long.
It needs replacing! Service call ;-0(
Good luck,

Maytag atlantis washer got water leaking from

I have an Atlantis myself. There can be several problems. Did you check that the fill hoses in the back are not leaking? Are they tight? There are hoses inside the washer and a pump near the front. I replaced my pump last year and I,m getting ready to replace the thrust bearing assembly (spin issues). Does the washer leak with every load? make sure water is not splashing over the tub when filling. The front panel comes off if you can and leave off and watch to see where water is coming from.

Washer is over filling.

Hi, Does water enter the machine when there timer is off or even if the machine is unplugged? If this is the case, the inlet valve needs replaced. If the water stops when the timer is turned off, there is a problem with the water level switch. Please let me know so that I can assist you further. Thanks

Fills with water than nothing!

Most likely it's the lid switch, part number 22003804.
Remove the back of the console to gain access.
