3 Beeps after trying to scan

Lately my scanner has been beeping 3 times after trying to pick it up and scan, Usually when its been sitting over-night but also other times too.. it will beep in a 3 beep pattern that the pitch gets higher with each beep. when you sit it back on the cradle for a minute to "charge" it seems fine for a while.. im sure its some sort of electrical issue but not exactly sure.. anyone?

If you are receiving three quick beeps (all the same tone) before a scan the battery is low. If the scanner is more than two years old the battery may need to be reconditioned. It is recommended the battery be reconditioned once a year. The latest revision of the LS4278 manual is here:

Print page 28 of 414 and scan the Battery Recondition barcode. The scanner will discharge the battery then charge it up again. It goes through this two times so you need to leave it on the charger a while for this process to complete. Hopefully this will resolve your issue. If not, you may need a new battery.

If the beeps are low, medium, high the procedure above still may work, but you might want to call Motorola for assistance. Sometimes hearing the beeps helps to diagnose the problem.

    You can put the scanner in the charger and lift the nose just enough to slip the barcode in to scan.

How do you recondition the battery if the scanner is not emitting the laser?

    Hi, I replied but it went to the main answer rather than your comment. Put the scanner in the cradle and lift the nose just enough to put the barcode under the beam. The cradle is supplying power so you should get the beam.

Randomly beeps for no reason at all. Can go 2 or 3 days then will start beeping. Day or night usually through the night.

Hi,
The beeps indicate that you have a RAM memory problem. Did you install new RAM lately? If yes then try removing the new RAM module and try again. If not then maybe your existing memory module has gone bad. Try replacing the RAM memory.

The cable has to have a PS/2 keyboard connected to it and you must be connected to the keyboard port. Unfortunately this scanner did not support "Notebook" mode where you could make it think it was connected to a laptop and leave the keyboard connection open. The other thing to check is that the "IBM PC/AT" barcode is scanned from Adobe page 55 of 182 of the LS400Xi Product Reference Guide.

Check metroselect single line configuration guide page no. 2
1) Scan Enter/Exit configuration mode it gives 3 beeps
2)Scan recall defaults it gives single beep
3)Scan Enter /exit configuration mode it gives 3 beeps
Now scanner is set to default setting

The first beep is a Good decode beep, the four beeps later are telling that the connection to your PC is not working properly.

Symbol LS 4000i scanner issues

Hello, it looks like the scanner lost the settings. As power is there, so connection is ok. The several (four) beeps after reading the barcode means communication error.
Please try to find the original sheet with configuration barcodes or download it from support.symbol.com website, you would need to scan the barcode for IBM PC/AT & IBM Compatibles from Keyboard Wedge Chapter.
