Neff S4409N dishwasher makes a banging/knocking noise when operating. Its nothing inside the dishwasher...seems to be linked to the valve under the sink..?? Any ideas ? IAN D.

If your Neff dishwasher is showing a flashing tap light, it typically indicates a water supply issue. Here's a short guide to address the problem:
Check Water Supply: Ensure the water supply valve under the sink is fully open.
Filter & Hose: Examine the inlet hose for kinks or bends and the filter at the connection point for blockages.
Water Pressure: Low water pressure can also trigger this warning. Verify that your home's water pressure is adequate.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, there might be a more complex problem, such as a faulty water inlet valve or a problem with the dishwasher's control system. In such cases, consulting the user manual or contacting Neff customer support for further assistance would be advisable.
Remove the bottom strainers plates and make sure that there is nothing obstructing the pipe or the pump or selector valve. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine again before using it again.
No-one posted a solution. I contacted the original solution poster who was very helpful.I hope this helps someone else better understand their refrigerator problem and get on the right track. Staffgage.

"you are right that cleaning under your refrig wont get rid of a "compressor knocking" sound. what it might do is to lower the amount of heat from the condenser coils and thus cause less pressure and stress on the compressor making it run easier and less likely to bang or knock when shutting off. if your coils were very plugged with lint and you have cleaned them, that will help but it wont "fix" the problem. inside the compressor is a motor and a pump, the motor is supported by 3 springs and they can stretch or break causing the motor to hit one side of the black outer can and cause the noise. that may be too technical, but its not something that can be repaired without replacing the compressor, at a cost of 700-800 bucks. most would not pay this as its not worth putting that amount of money into an older refrig."
"think that you are hearing either a freon related sound or even just the sounds of the unit going thru defrost. how often do you hear the noise? just maybe once a day or is it everytime the unit shuts off? either way i would rule out the ice maker and water system as when the "shut off arm" is up then it is off and wont make any noise, or ice. keep the i/m arm up and then listen for the next day or two and try to narrow down when it makes the noise and frequency you hear it and then get back to me. it may not even be a problem, just normal operating sounds that cant be changed."
1. No water
Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water
shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to
the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill
cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at
the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either
side), in which case replace the water valve.
2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This
could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located
under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the
bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).
3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher.
Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray
arm.
I believe this is a brand new dishwasher. Please listen carefully to determine of the sound you hear (clunk) is being made inside the dishwasher or is it being made near by. Most times, the problem is that the hot water pipe is baking the noise when the dishwasher closes the water inlet valve ... and the pipe goes "clunk"
I have not had an LG dishwasher make a clunking sound inside itself when the cycle changes. Also, because this dishwasher is so very quiet (well insulated) the pipe banging would be louder than something inside the Dishwasher.
If you have access to the hot water pipe, listen very near it when the cycle changes for the sound. Follow that pipe (hot water) pipe back and insulate it at the point it is banging. (or get a plumber to evaluate and resolve.)
Please get back to me with what you find, OK?
Good Luck!
you need to check the inlet walve . when you start the unit you say it drains. so after the drain do you hear the water entering the dishwasher? If you hear a sound like a buzzing noise that would be the inlet valve working. if thats the case there is a clog at the screen in the valve not allowing the water or enough water in the tub. seeing that this is a portable unit you will also want to check to make sure the fill hose is not kinked up anywhere in the cabinet or under neath the dishwasher. If you hear no buzzing noise you need to check the inlet valve with a meter to first make sure your getting power to it and that the valve itself if good. check these things out and let me know what you found and we can go from there
