There is a problem with the power supply. The clicking is the power regulator continuously turning on and off. This was most likely caused by a power surge.

The first thing to check is a visual inspection of the power supply and look for bad capacitors. This can be done by looking for ones that look bubbled where the top metal part with the T is ballooning out. If you see any, replace these with the correct voltage and fared rating (both located on the capacitor itself) by soldering them onto the power supply.

This will fix the problem most of the time but the power surge could had also damaged other components in the power supply so if you are not comfortable with soldering or did not see any bubbled capicators, or replacing the capicators did not fix the problem replace the power supply board.

My 50" ps50b451b2w Samsung has just had a new main

Clicking sounds like a bad power board. There are small relays on power boards that would make a clicking noise.

I don't know why a main board would have been replaced for that, as I don't know of any main boards with relays or anything that would cause a clicking noise on them.

Clicking noises may mean a power supply voltage is not staying correct or that board is bad---a suggestion: visit shopjimmy.com who has by model number a list of all the boards used in almost every Samsung Flat screen set made.

When the TV is swith on,the clicking like noise and the red indicator blinks continuesly.

fly-back has a leak im sure with that.try to check the flyback for blue colored current that goes out from it. this causes the noise, if it has then you can use a sealant to seal the leak

42 inch plasma wont turn on

I may have the fix.... Fixed two of my 50 inch plasmas that stopped turning on 1 year after I bought them. They both wouldn't turn on.... LOL Just gave me the black screen of death and a red blinking LED when I tried to turn on. I have pics and step by step instructions. Your time and under 40 bucks is what you'll need. I fixed both my sets for 80 cents. You can fix yours too.... I too got the it would be better to replace it than to have it fixed lie told to me too. I held out to the bitter end. Glad I did....
