It depends on the lens mount on the lens itself. Each camera maker uses a different mounting system. In some cases, a camera shop can change the mount on a third party lens like a Quantaray.

If you happen to know the camera that the Quantaray was initially used on, that helps answer your question. A Nikon will not fit on a Canon, will not fit on a Pentax, will not fit on a Sony, etc, etc.

You did not mention which lens. Some Canon digital cameras will only take EFS lens, others take both EF and EFS. Also there are other types of lens mounts made by Canon.

Almost all early Quantaray lenses (and Sigma lenses, Sigma made Quantaray) in the Canon EOS mount will show error messages on Canon digital cameras (but still work fine on older EOS film cameras). usually err99 but err01 also. There is no DIY fix and Sigma ran out of update parts years ago. Current production lenses and Canon made lenses will not have this problem. This lens would only work for someone shooting EOS film cameras with no intention of "upgrading" their system to digital Canon cameras in the future.

Camera compatibility

Quantaray makes lenses with many different mounts. If the lens has a Canon EF mount then it will fit your camera. If it has another mount, Nikon for example, then it will not fit your camera.

Quantary 70-300 1:4-5.6 LG, is it compatible with digital canon camera?

Quantary makes lenses for a variety of cameras. A lens for a Minolta, for example, will not fit onto a Canon. Assuming you get the lens with a Canon EF mount, then yes, it is compatible with a Canon digital SLR.

Why does the camera say error 99 when i put lense on? camera works fine with other lense. we have a cannon 30d.

The Quantaray lens is not compatible electronic wise with your Canon. It is indeed made to fit Canon, but the lens is a bit outdated compared to the relatively new Canon.

Quantaray lenses were sold by Ritz Camera (also Wolf Camera). You would want to take it in to the and see if it can be sent out and re-chiped, which will allow it to work with the newer Canon cameras.

Not all lenses can be re-chiped. You may just have to purchase a new lens.

Is a flash compatible with my camera?

Most Canon Digital SLRs use the ETTL metering system. I can't find any decent specs or manuals on the net about this flash whether its ETTL or TTL. I could find models that are specific to Canon and Nikon, so check that first too.

Also be wary of the flashes trigger voltage. A voltage too high might fry the camera when its mounted on the hotshoe, so see if you can find it in the manual.

You can always use this flash off camera in full manual mode. To find out more go to www.strobist.com or go to the Strobist Group on www.flickr.com
