Acquired a 12 year old Hercules Caliante 6-man hot tub. The electrician hooked it up and the breaker tripped. They figured it was the fine mist blower. So I bought a new blower and the new blower still trips the breaker. The blower cord just plugs into the control box with a 4-prong amp plug. It is a Balboa DLX240 control box. I replaced the 10a time delay fuse and that didn't work. All wiring matches the schematic and all wiring looks good. Could it possibly be the (relay) switch for the blower??? I need a low cost solution besides not using the pump. Replacing the board is not an option right now.

You should start with checking all your breakers to be sure the breaker did not pop just half of your breaker. This is something you should do with all your breakers. When you do this you should shut down all your 220v breakers so you don't get bleed back through the system. Other than that you need to look for resets on the tub. The heater is a good place to start and don't forget the gfci's on the tub or in the bath or laundry room.

Check for a water leak in the electrical areas of your spa... specifically look closely around the heater terminals, look for wet and corroded connections... If this spa is wired to a plug-in outlet, look at the GFCI plug assembly as well... You can also try disconnecting the blower, pump, heater, etc, from the control pack (one at a time) to determine which item is causing the tripping.

I have had a few troublesome units over the year that did as you describe due to 'dew' overnight collecting around the tub and the increased moiture sent the motor of the circ pump "over the edge" iinto a grounded state. A leaking pump seal was adding to the problem. Once the seal leak along with the dew got high enough the GFI would sense the grounded condition and trip. Fixing the pump seal and drying/cleaning the motor fixed the problem every time. If you find any other leak sources around the pump you will need to fix them as well.
