My touch pad isnt working either is the dial

you should change touch screen pad by a professional expert

If you move the phone from your ear to a viewing position it should light up so you can access the dial pad- you may have to do this motion a couple of times. If that doesn't work try pressing any key on phone such as the home button you may have to go back into phone mode after home screen but it shouldn't end the call. If you access your call settings you may be able to set that your screen stays lit during calls, the down side to that is possible accidental pressing of the keypad with your cheek which is why screen is set to go blank. If you have memory card into your phone remove then try if it work,insert low memory....touch problem so,go cervicing center.

LG ENV2....reset the phone to factory defaults....wont lose data, contacts, etc....worked for me...exterior backlight now shuts off

That must be a hardware problem. Your touch pad need to be replaced with a new one. If your phone still covered with manufacturer warranty, you can have it repair free of charge. But if not, you can bring it to any phone repair shop to fix it.

the problem could be that the connection within the touch sensor and the board of the phone must have been disconnected.

try to take it to an expert that would help you carefully open and fix the phone.

Have you tried removing the battery and waiting for a minute and replacing it in the phone.
The phone will reboot and possibly your screen will work again.

Try soft reseting your phone. If that doesnt work then try hard reseting.  To soft reset take the stylus pen and push in the little hole on the bottom of the phone. You should feel a little click and then your phone will restart. Wait until your phone  starts up again and if it still isnt working then do a hard reset. 
 To hard reset, hold down the green send button and the red end call button at the same time and continue to hold them down as you then push your stylus pen into the hole on the bottom of the phone untill you feel the little click. Your phone should start to reset.  Be warned you will loose any information saved to the phones memory ie: phone numbers, pictures, personal settings. Anything saved to your memory card should be ok.
If your screen remains blank after trying both resets I would suggest taking it back to where you got it and and have them fix it or replace it.
