I can't turn off predictive text on my lg cookie. I know you can turn the phone sideways and use the keypad, but I like to text like you do on any normal phone, just not predictive.

Well in contacts app when you open an contact (pressing your finger on the screen on place where the contact is lol :) ) and press a context menu button (it looks like on your device, there is an option to edit contactAnd for predictive text, it depends if you use Swype or other keypad. You find them in Settings->Locale Setting, if you select swype you will see an option to turn word prediction, for Samsung keypad there is an option called XT9, and for Gingerbread keypad there is an option at the end of menu to Show suggestions. If this is helpful thumb me up :).
To turn off predictive text, just go to the menu of the phone and select the message, then you select the option for message, then you will see the predictive option settings there you can turn it off.
That is how to turn off predictive text on your phone.
while the text messaging screen is up press the icon that looks like this then select input method and choose keyboard. Touch T9 to turn predictive text on or off. Hope this helps
Go into settings, then Touch Settings, then Touchscreen Effect... I turned down the the tone volume. Forget using the manual. Doesn't even have the courtesy of including an "index" in the manual for exact reference...
Well it's not so much a solution as it is an answer.
T9 is 9-key Texting. So it will only predict what you're going to type if you're using the 9-key triple tap mode of texting.
It WILL NOT intelligently select options of what it thinks you are typing on the QWERTY keyboard.
I've had this phone for less then a week & so far that would be my only suggestion for improvement. Otherwise, it's an awesome lil' phone for what I use it for.
