Samsung HL-R6167W DLP color problem/buzzing noise

My set suddenly started to buzz horribly loud (coming from back of unit) and the colors changed to a mostly purple hue? Any ideas?....is it possibly my color wheel gone bad?

    During start up, my HLR6167W has a loud noise similar to gears grinding in a car. Took the back cover off and it didn' sound like the fan at all. I've read a lot of other complaints about the color wheel going bad. Does anybody have a similar problem?

    have same tv, buzzing noise coming from rear. Tv does nthing now...

    Same problem. Loud grinding noise and lots of purple on the screen.

My 3 yr old Samsung DLP has the same buzzing noise, had a tech out today and he said "color wheel". Thank goodness I purchased that expensive warranty, This is my 4th repair in 3 years.

This tv have a colors wheel design in it to this tv.The buzzing noises and the colors are all screwed up because the colors wheel is worn out and spinning off of is axis and rubbing it against the wall of it hall of the steal box frame that hold the colors wheel itself.Don't attemp change the colors wheel by ur self,if u have no mechanical skills.Bacause the colors wheel itself sit way back of the tv,have to take out many mechanicals parts,before can come to the colors wheel itself to replace it.Because u will regret it later if u putting the colors wheel itself in wrong.Hire a tv repair person to replace it.

this is more than likely the color wheel is failing and needs replaced happens on dlp units frequently I would suggest replacing the color wheel should fix the problem

My samsung dlp has a loud buzz/hum noise when it comes on and them remains though somewhat less loud
The buzz can be the color wheel or one of the cooling fans going bad. The only other thing that could cause a buzz would be the ballast going bad. Call a local repair shop to further diagnose the problem

My 61" Samsung DLP has loud Buzzing sound - Everything else ok
There are only 2 moving parts on a dlp tv the color wheel and the fan. The color wheel needs to be replaced about every 4 to 5 years. Some start to make noise and others like mine blow up with a bang. Go to utube to get instructions on how to replace it only cost me for part $100 good luck

Cooling fan buzzing
Yes,don't do it yourself,and you need to have repair tech. asap,cause if the cooling fan is not working properly,that could trigger other parts in the tv to be malfunction.
