The camara will not show a picture on the lcd screen when trying to take a picture. Play back mode works, put in new batters, reset to factory defaults and re formatted card...still no pic on lcd in shooting mode.
It eventually shows a picture but the lcd screen start out dark then screen jump. Then the light is dim help
Your lens is Damage. Prevent nextime from sunlight , it damage your lens if not in use.

High, John again. I just got off of the phone with the folks at Sony. They said that it was an image sensor problem and are sending me an address label to send the camera in for repair. (at no charge).
Their number is (888) 476-6972. The call took several minutes, so get comfy and be patient.

The Canon E18 error happens when the lens gets stuck while trying to extend. When your camera was dropped the lens mechanism was damaged resulting in this error for a jammed mechanism.
If the camera is still under warranty you should see if Canon are willing to repair it. If not you can view this link which is a very good walkthrough with pictures on how the error was resolved with a Canon SD300.
As you can see from this the process is intricate enough and involves opening the camera so should only be attempted if you feel confident about taking it on.

Try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

It does not take pictures & no picture on card or LCD seems to focus & flash to something in the normal manor. when new it had apicture on the lcd with vertical lines down the picture ! Checked obvious batteries lenses all appears good .
