AV-56WP30 Convergence Repair

I have finally found time to install the convergence repair kit for my JVC AV-56WP30 and I have noticed 2 resistors that might be bad, can you please tell me the resistance value for R842 and R858 so that I know which resistors to replace them with? Also, could those bad resistors be the problem and not the chips? I don't want to replace any more than I need to at this time..

JVC AV-56WP30 has red onlines in picture (maybe red bulb ?)

This is a 2002 model----if picture looks 3d it has a convergence problem---if you go into the customer menu with the original remote select convergence and see if it will adjust----IF the answer is no, let me know and I can tell you what is involved to repair this problem.

Convergence is off on jvc av-56wp30

You will need to install a convergence repair kit which contains two Convergence ICs STK392-110 and then the associated resistors as usually a JVC will Need at least 1 or 2 of the resistors when the ICs fail. You can get the kit for your model at the following link which has the IC and all the resistors plus step by step detailed instructions on how to do the repair. This kit fits your model JVC

It powers on and has sound but cannot see the picture clearly. The picture on the TV is like in the middle of the screen and very small and blurred. 2005 56" Jvc I'Art Pro 1080i HDTV AV-56wp30

Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1 - Failure in the convergence circuits. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed. Notice how dull the colors are and how white the screen looks. The screen may also look red, orange, dull, etc.

TV set after fluid change. Notice how bright the colors are now. Everthing looks crisp and sharp again.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.
