Can you please tell me how do i connect my dvd player with composite output to my sony bravia LCD. i have managed to get black and white output on screen by trying different combination but no colour.

My problem is that I only have red, yellow and white connections on the DVD player - no green or blue. Do I use the "component" choices? Does the cable need to go through the DVD player?

Just respect the colors. Green output from the dvd to green input tv, Red output from the dvd to red input tv and the same with blue. All 3 cables (green , red, blue) are for the picture, so you got to plug another 2 for the sound.

Another option, is S-video. If you have S-video out on the DVD player then, I'm sure there is a S-video input on your TV. Just a suggestion.

Use three RCA cables, yellow, white and red to connect DVD player to TV as shown in the diagram below. Connect yellow to yellow and white to white. Connect red to red. Select on the TV, the A/V input where the DVD is connected using the TV remote control. Power on TV and DVD, place a disc in tray of DVD player and press PLAY.

Hi,
  • If I understand your question correctly you want to watch your DVD on your TV thru your receiver,
  • you need to connect either composite connections "Audio/Video Output " red/white/yellow RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your receiver
  • ( pls note that component to composite conversion is not possible on receiver ..use one type connection thru all the way )
  • to "Audio/Video input " red/white/yellow RCA jacks or "Optic Cable input" of your TV
  • than just switch to DVD mode on corresponding your RCA or Optic connection...
There you go..Your DVD sound and video both are on the TV..
  • Hope this helps!

Hook up of dvd to tv

hey I think you need to use component cables blue green red from the player to the tv, make sure the blue green red ports are also on the tv, note: red yellow white composite cable will not interchange with blue green red component cable or connection.

simplify- blue green red= component
red white yellow=composite

*wires must match colors on both tv and player inputs.

then set your input on your tv to where you conected the cable.

Try to set your video output settings on your dvd player . I assume you used to connect to your old tv by using svideo and now you are using another connection like component, scart or hdmi.If the video output setttings on your dvd are still on svideo you will have to set it to rgb or component or else you will get black and white images..

Sony Bravia with Phillps dvd player

The DVD player may have multiple output formats that can be displayed. Sounds like you have the composite output selected when you have the component output selected on the DVD player. Check the menu options on the DVD player and confirm they match the way you have the player connected

Sony bravia lcd hd flat screen tv

You will need to connect the dvd via one of the inputs on the tv then select that input on the tv to see the dvd. Since dvd can connect to the tv several ways I suggest you read the owners manual as they show all the hookups to the tv. If your dvd has an hdmi input that's the best output to use from the dvd player.
