Denon 3910 won't load some dvds/cds and vibrates while trying.."disc error"!

Hi, guys My Denon 3910 is killing me softly...
It all began with cds: taking longer to load, not starting at the beggining or failing to load and displaying all zeros...DVDs began to have extended load times, too. Progressed to: 1) vibrating while trying to load some new DVDs, failing and displaying either "stop" or all zeros. I finally tried a "Fellowes DVD Lens Cleaner " but it would only play the disc's main page and then completely stop, offering "disc error". This did help to allow for the playing of discs that previously would not, but not for long! I live in New York and seek a good repair shop and /or advice.
thanks, Mike.

I dont play many cd's, however I have increasing amount of DVD's that will not play - they seem to load and then all zeros display and will not play. I have also recently had the same problems with SACD. I will first move to try cleaning as posted as a solution

I have the Denon 2900 (about 4 years of use) and until recently, suffered from the same (growing) problem. CD's were very difficult to start/read. I recently found advice which I tried and was succesful with. It was manually cleaning the laserlens. I took away the outer housing by unscrewing all off the on top (6), side (4) and the back (2) bolts. After that I took out the top plate of the laserunit which took two very little screws taking out. Now you are looking at the cd-tray with the lens. Take a very soft and clean cloth and moisten it a little bit with clean water (be very carefull with the moistening, don't allow any waterdrop to come out of the cloth into the laserlens while cleaning! Carefully clean the lens and dry it with a dry part of the same cloth. Replace the top plate and the outer housing and the player will recognize the discs like it's new again. Good luck! CDJ NOT READING CDS. STATES (DISC ERROR)

If it shows No Disc error to all CDs, either its Sled Motor [The motor which spins the disc inside], or its optical picku unit has the fault. You have to contact the nearest Denon authorised service center to get it repaired, as Denon uses special type machanism with theirs sets, and it can't be available at open electonic spare part market.

The drive plays DVDs and can read doc files, but

This problem is normal and exists with many CD/DVD drives.
On some of the drives, if you put in blank discs and try to open the disc in My Computer or Windows Explorer, Windows displays no contents or a blank disc. Whereas on other drives, you get the error message that you mentioned about incorrect function.

What software are you using to burn CDs or DVDs? Are you able to burn CDs but not DVDs or you can't burn both the discs? Did you try a CDs with a different make/manufacturer? Some drives refuse on some disc makes. Try another disc and another writing speed, or try the lowest writing speed available with your software.

Hope that helps,
Regards,
Raspal

I just doesn't load/read CD's.

I had the same problems with my four year Denon DVD-3910 and the only solution to it was to replace the laser unit with a new one.

There are some repair service on EBay that offer new laser units for only about 50 € and are also willing to change the laser unit for an extra charge of just 30 €.

After this replacement your Denon DVD-3910 will work fine again.

Denon DHT-500SD - DVDs wont load

the problem may be two fold
1 the optical pickup assembly's lens may be dirty and needs to be cleaned (donot use any liquid to clean the lens just a soft cotton swab will do)
2 the optical pickup assembly has failed and can no longer read discs (if the laser or sensors inside the optic fail it is "blind" and can not "see" the disc)
start with the cleaning.

Player does not recognize or play CDs

Thats how some manufacturers sell there replacement parts as they come into the country assembled. it cost let to import but more for us. i once needed a spindle motor for a unit, no replacement except the manufacturer part. Had to buy entire laser assy and thats what they bare selling you too. If you already tryed to manualy clean the lens, look on the side of the laser pick-up. it might be made by sony or a popular manufacturer go by the number printed on the label on the side or bottom of the laser assy unit itself. Good Luck
