Dear Repair, We have a 42 inch Westinghouse TX-42F430S LCD TV. It is 2 yrs old. About two weeks ago the unit began to have occasions where it would just shut off by itself. We would turn it on and after awhile it would turn off again. Finally it refused to turn on at all. When the unit was working properly, the indicator light on the front panel would turn blue. When we shut it off the indicator light would be amber. Since its failure, we see no indicator lights at all. I have verified that there is consistent 120VAC at the wall outlet. Our in-house repair shop can handle minimal repairs. If there is a module such as a board or power supply that can be ordered, we can probably replace a defective component. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks,
Dan
The fact that you do not have any indicator lights whatsoever means that your power supply is defective.
Open up the back and check for bubbled capicators. This is a common issue in Westinghouse LCDs where the power supply would fail easily, most likely caused by a power surge. If you see any bubbled capacitors, you could try just changing them with the right voltage and fared ratings but sometime they can be hard to find since many have high voltage ratings. make sure they are in the right orientation.
If this does not fix it or if you just want to go the easy route, just order the power supply. That is guaranteed to solve the problems and is much easier to replace.
