Have a maytag mtw5900tw changed lid switch but still will not agitate it buzzes and then shuts down

When the washer fills but does not agitate or spin then you can check if the lid switch is fine. You can jump start the lid switch by connecting both the wires with each other or use the third wire to act as jumper between the two. After this if the problem is solved then replacing lid switch is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

You must remove the rear control panel housing...
Remove some clips - and then remove the basin surround.
Here is a video that will help you out without having to type out the entire instructions. It is a general instructional that covers just about all the manufacturers.

sounds like a faulty lid switch assy. not recognizing the lid has actually been put down so for safety reasons will not start agitation. you can google that model number for faulty lid switch ( i just did) and find part numbers and all

Most likely lid switch has failed.

your problem still could be a bad lid switch not making. also, check your spin/agitate belt part #40053606. hope the attaced breakdown helps.

you probably need to replace the lid switch. if you are mechanically inclined or know someone who is, you could bypass the switch and connect the wires to see if the machine will fill and agitate etc.

If so - YES...

I have had several washers with agitators and pinched little tiny holes in my cloths..

So irritating..

I baught a front loader that just tumbles with no agitation..

Sounds like a bad lid switch. When you close the top lid, there is a safety switch that closes, it is actuated by a pin attached to the lid, there will be a small hole located on top of the machine, somewhere on the perimter of the top of the tub. Could also be a bad timer.

Check lid switch. Most will not run with lid open and the switch may not be pressed down when door is closed

Check your lid switch, some machines stay running when you add clothes when it agitates, but will shut off if you lift the lid in rinse and spin, lid switch may be broken.
