I have lost my personal profile on windowes vista

Hi HG not sure which personal settings you are referring to but there seems to be a similar posting on Microsoft's site.Personal Settings - Error message stating it failed to load "Personal Settings" Windows Vista

· Was there any change prior to this issue?
Personal files are located under c:\users\<username>\. You may try to access from that location and check.
Step 1: As a work around, perform system restore.

Step 2: If that does not resolve, then check in new user account.

You could try this:

-first, delete your current installation of Chrome,

-then, open Windows Explorer, and depending on your operating system, go to: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\
for Windows XP

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\
for Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8

-Go to the folder "Default" and rename this folder to "Backup Default".

-Now download and install Chrome again.

-Start it up. There should be a new folder "Default", created when you started using the browser.
If you value the data in your old profile: you can try copying them from the backup folder to the new profile, but some of it may be corrupted.
But at least your Bookmarks are not lost:
-go to the "Backup Default" folder, and -locate the "Bookmarks.bak" file. -copy it to the "Default" folder, and -rename it "Bookmarks". All the other old browser data is preserved in the "Backup default" folder, but transfering it to your "Default" folder may corrupt Chrome. Tread carefully, if at all..

are you using windows XP if you are log into safe mode tap f8 upon powering the system till you get windows advance menu select safemode, in safemode log in try logging in as admiistrator leave password field blank if it logs in go to control panel and click user accounts change or manage user accounts select you log in with the lost password change the password or better remove the password then restart system log in using the user name u normaly use if it log directly that is good then ccreat a new password under that account profile ^_^ this should work but for vist and win7 it might be imoissuble to log into an administrator account you must at least know the password if you created one if not then reinstalling vista and win7 is the final option ^_^

Let Windows Vista start normally and log into your personal account. You do not need administrative privileges to enable or disable the Aero effect, as it is a personal setting and can be different for each user

how to solve Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.

Windows XP: How to change the Default User UI LanguageIn Windows XP, you can set the UI language that the default user on the local machine (or a domain user that doesn't have a profile) will see at first first log on. It is also the UI language that is applied to system services running on local machine.
• Open Regional Options in Contol Panel
• Click on the Advanced tab
• In "Default user account settings" at the bottom of the page, check the box beside "Apply all settings to the current user account and to the default user profile"

1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

it seems to be issue with windows. try logging the computer in safe mode , safe mode with networking then you have to copy mandatory profile to the current user logged in

right click to my computer click properties click advance look for the performance click sittings and check best performance.

Make a backup copy of all your data, including passwords, emails, settings, etc

Find another windows xp computer whether its a friends or another computer you have and get a memory stick or external hard drive ( which you will need ) on the working computer go into

c:\documents and settings

make a copy of the default user folder and copy that over the one on your laptop and try again.

I rebooted my system in 'safe mode' (which allowed me to login as
administrator), moved my files to the public area, and then deleted my
profile (using the Users option in Control Panel).

When I rebooted again, in normal mode, I could login as administrator, and
then moved my files back and rebuilt my profile manually.

The only problem was my forgetting about e-mail messages, which I did not
backup and have been lost permanently. Ug!!!

You need to log in on an administrative account and make your profile an administrator.
