Olympus cameras have different USB cords and cards, xD cards are used in Olympus and Fuji cameras only. If it is not recognized via USB cable there may be a faulty cable or USB port if the camera is working. You can get a card reader as they are fairly cheap these days and take the card out and put it in the card reader to get the Chrissy photos.
If your camera's driver is not installed, it will not work.
Make sure you go to the manufactures site, and download the correct driver there.
However, if your driver IS installed, then yes, your USB cord might have gotten bad.
try plugging it into some other USB port and even try uploading the drivers of the USB!! or best is try using some other USB to test it!!

Vista is your problem. Solution...buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can send the pics to your photo editing software.
I can'tg upload pictures. I have a polarioid t11031 digital camera, and I have a USB cord ffor it, but my computer does not recognize it when I plug it in. I want to know how I can get the pitctures off my camera and onto my computer.
It sounds like you don't have software on your PC that will recognize the camera when connected. I am going to recommend that you do not use the camera to upload photos. It is better practice to use external (SD) memory cards and remove them from the camera to upload. You can use a USB SD reader or purchase SD cards with a built-in USB interface. You should be able to see a new drive when connecting the SD card to your computer; then all you need to do is copy over the images. One advantage is that you will save camera battery while uploading because you dont need the camera at all. It also allows you to take images with you without taking the camera, i.e. school or work. I hope this helps...californiajones
try useing it on another computer you dont have to install sony software to use the camera on another computer if it dose work that tells you that its prob your USB port.
I had to install the software that came with the camera before it would properly work. Windows would recognize that some USB device had been plugged in but would not properly be able to tranfer data. Hope this helps.
