My printer went crazy, it says please wait on the LCD. windows keeps ringing ask if the the usb has been taking out and then back in.
the fax, scan,copy lights flash not together but one after another. Also the feeder goes as if I'm scanning something.
I Went into the maintenance mode, I can only do that by opening the cover and press set -black-set-black
I picked maintenance 82 the error is A1
Then I picked 80 it show that I have A1, A2 and 82
Any idea about the code and how to fix them.
it was working fine until I was scanning something and my son pulled the paper while it was scanning.
It seems that it is busy with the scanning job still.

Not sure what 82 code is but A2 and A1 have to do with size of paper possible original to long for size of paper in cassette

5A means that the purge cam stopps abnormally when it is in use. This could be of a broken cam shaft. You have to replace the whole purge unit. This is a service job to do!

Ok here is the answer you have all been waiting for - look on the CD that came with any HP printer for the mac and you will see that it is for 10.3.9 and 10.4. I bet you dollars to donuts you have the new 10.5 leopard software and you got the new printer for free from the apple store.
All is not lost - go to the hp website at www.hp.com and on the left side you will see a grey menu that says software and driver downloads click on it and type your product. The version right now is 9.7.1 once you get all the way through. DO NOT INSTALL THE HP INSTALLER FILE - it is the same as the CD.

Turn the machine off and hold menu while turning it on and keep holding it while the machine starts up. This should go into maint mode.
When it gets into maint mode you can try 99 to exit. This is like a soft reset. Hard reset is hitting 01 in maint mode and then 99 to exit.

I finally got a solution to my problem, which is the same as this one. When trying to scan via USB, you have to make sure the unit is set to USB. On the top panel just above the LCD display, is 3 buttons, Copy, Fax, Scan. Hit the SCAN button, till the display says USB SCANNING. Then try to scan again. Good luck!!

I finally got a solution to my problem, which is the same as this one. When trying to scan via USB, you have to make sure the unit is set to USB. On the top panel just above the LCD display, is 3 buttons, Copy, Fax, Scan. Hit the SCAN button, till the display says USB SCANNING. Then try to scan again. Good luck!
