Sony bravia picture to large for screen

Sir press the screen mode button in your remote below input select button, press the screen mode button repeatedly to select smart, 4:3, wide, zoom, or 14:9.
  • Smart- Display conventional 4:3 broadcast with an imitation wide screen effect. The 4:3 picture is stretched to fill the screen.
  • 4:3- Display conventional 4:3 broadcast non-wide screen TV in the correct proportions.
  • Wide- Display wide screen 16:9 broadcast in the correct proportions.
  • Zoom- Display cinemascopic letter box format broadcasts in the correct proportions.
  • 14:9- Display 14:9 broadcasts in the correct proportions. As a result, black border areas are visible on the screen.

I have connected my laptop to my sony 40ex403 bravia. The screen is centred on the tv screen. How do get it to full screen size?

Hello.
On your TV remote control there is button "Picture mode" or similar name. You can change image to "zoom" or "wide" by using it. Sometimes if in "zoom" mode it still not fill whole screen - you have to change display settings in you notebook for external display.
Regards.
Russ.

We have a sony Bravia and are watching a movie with some subtitles. The second line of the is off the bottom of the screen. How do I adjust?

On your television remote press the wide button, hopefully you have the television remote. You can press this wide button on the remote to select full and zoom, you should be able to find one of these options to fix the caption from being off the screen.

Picture distortion

check the settings on the dvd as if you set the dvd to 4:3 format for instance, the picture will be "squashed" to a letter box format and when you play on wide screen it will become "morphed" and mishaped. also if the tv is set to wide all the time, then this will cause a stretching effect. set the tv to auto picture size or "smart" as it is on sony's, with auto 16:9 on.

MY TV WONT STAY ON WIDE MODE. wHEN THE ADVERTS COME ON IT CHANGES BACK TO HALF SIZE. I HAVE A NEW SONY BRAVIA

This is actually due to the signal format being sent down from the transmitters/broadcaster. They by defauly output 4:3 which your tuner in your TV interprets and rejigs it into 16:9. Te adverts as they come on are seen by the tuner in your tv as a change in aspect ratio, and therefore your TV is trying to best display these. However, if you go to your screen settings, you can change the screen auto format to your choice and this chould ensure that the picture always gets set to your choice. If set on default, it will vary between 'wide' and 'smart'.
