Coleman Powermate Generator (PM0525202.03) throttle adjustment

My coleman powermate generator (PM0525202.03) had given me very high voltages. I adjusted the throttle to bring the RPM's down. With no load, it now puts out 124 volts at 59.4 Hz. Putting a 2600 watt load on it brings it down to 111 volts at 57.2 Hz. What should I set it to with no load to compensate for the drop when there is a load? Does anyone know what the manufacturer has this set to out of the factory with no load on the generator?

Coleman Powermate full throttle

There may be a choke handle that should reduce the engine RPM. Otherwise contact the Coleman technical support department.

I purchased a Coleman Powermate 5000 6 years ago: Ser: 94411583. Never really used it for any length of time. Kept for emergency. An electrician checked it for voltage output a short time ago. 240V...

Voltage is adjusted by raising or lowering the engine speed (governor adjustment), however one must also pay attention to the rpm because your generator was designed to produce 120 volts at 60 cycles while turning 3600 rpm. Your electrician should have tested for htz while testing for voltage. I would recommend re-testing under load and adjust governor to turn 60 cycles to see resulting voltage.

Proper no-load but low loaded voltage Capacitor with low capacity Check and replace. if wires are connected start with the Diodes first electronics parts stores will have these in stock as well as cheeper. hope this helps

Powermate model 544000 generator undervoltage

There are basically 2 possibilities that can cause this.

1) Enigne RPMs are too low. but, since you already played with the throttle, this probably isn't the case. RPMs should be about 3600 though.

2) The voltage regulator / capacitor has high ESR (resistance) or is bad altogether. Replace.

I'm reading 130VAC on the output. Can this be

It should read 115v-120v with full load. Yes, you can slow the engine down just a little, depending on the engine, there will be a high rpm adjustment. 130v with full speed, no load, is really not too bad.

The speed will change the 'frequency' too. You need to make sure you still have 60 Hz. You may have need a voltage regulator adjustment, not a speed adjustment.

Three year old coleman 5000/6250 generator. High

Your RPM's are too high. There is no voltage regulator in coleman generators (generator is actually made by generac) and is 100% dependent on engine speed. There is a screw under the tank when your looking in from the recoil side. It controls the governor arm. Screw it in and it incresses the rpm, out decrease. Plug something in that draws a decent load while setting the rpms since you want it to put out 120 and 240 underload. Your idle voltage does not matter.
