How to change belt on Eureka Whirlwind

My Eureka Whirlwind 4381 has no suction from the roller on the bottom. The hose has great suction. I am trying to figure out how to change the belt. Any ideas?

On the top cover, there are holes at the front on both sides, there is a screw on each side in one of the holes. Take the out, and the cover should come off, then you can get to the brush roll and belt.

There is also a third screw on the left rear facing the front of the vacuum cleaner. A TOTAL of THREE Screws !!!!

Can't get the roller to spin

i suggest taking hose off and declogging it by using a water hose to make sure its free of debris. Plus check your belt first take off bottom plate the you'll be able to tell if belt is broken which it sounds like it is.
if belt is good and hose is clear and still brush wont spin then your brush motor needs replacing. hope this helps.

No suction

there is a clog somewhere :) take the canister off and check the opening and the hose. sometimes items get caught in the top of the canister.. this greatly reduces the whirlwind effect..

No suction when vacuuming, but suction is good when using hose

check for blockage from where the hose sets in its
holder to the roller brush. Also see if the brush is
turning, the belt maybe broken.

My Eureka Lite speed whirlwind has a bad odor when it runs.

It is either the filter or on the roller or belt.

Eureka 4870: Brush roller turns even in hose setting.

You either have the wrong size belt, most likely too small, or you have installed a new belt incorrectly. When you open the cover on the bottom of your vac, you will see the pulley that moves as you flip the switch from floors to carpet. The belt does not go around this pulley. When activated(carpet) the pulley puts tension on the belt causing it to turn the roller. When switched back to hard floors, the belt looses tension allowing motor to cause suction but disabling roller. Also, the dial on top of vac is only to direct suction, not for disabling roller

I have the Eureka Whirlwind upright vacuum. All of a sudden there is no suction- the hose has suction but not main part. I have no idea- but the brush part is not turning??? should I get a new vacuum or...

If the belt isn't turning then it has snapped. Check the top of the hood for two or three crosshead screws; two at the front and one under neath by the left hand side if looking at the upright from the front. Its easy to fix if you take your time and you have a spare drive belt. Check EBAY in your country for spares.

After you put a new belt on make sure the roller beater is completely free of threads as this will keep the belt longer for running.

Changing belt - Eureka Whirlwind 5740

I tried the website for manuals but no luck. I called the toll-free # 1-800-282-2886 and got a rep right away. I gave him the model and s/n (lower bottom on the back side) and he walked me thru it. For the model I have, there are 3 screws to remove - With the vacuum upright and standing facing it - there is on on the right and one on the left of the bottom cover and one on the left side near the hose intake. Remove those to get to the belt. I ordered the belt with him too - althought the belts were cheap ($2.99 for 2) the shipping was $8. If this didnt help - call the 800# - they were great.

Eukerka lite speed

There are 2 screws on the top cover, remove those and the cover comes off, then you can get to the brush roll and belt. Inspect the brush roll, make sure the ends turn freely, if not, then replace it also.
