You should see the red/green/blue wires coming from the board and going upwards towards the pix tube and they will be marked w/their appropriate color
Their are no trimmer pots on this unit.
All settings are set thru the high voltage transformers and if you have the problems you have described, your best bet is to have unit serviced before the unit goes past the point of repair.
You could have 8-10 transformers on the board with input and output transistors and other components , just one may throw the entire unit out of balance.
Your TV is almost exactly the same as the KF-50XBR800 model if that is the 50" model you saw that was listed on another website. The only real difference are minor as a few more screws and of course, the larger screen size. These models were the first generation Projection LCDs made.
The instructions should be the same, they both have the same service manual. I am not exactly sure which control unit you are speaking of, there are many boards that handle the processing and but the closest one to that name is the Control Panel Block. This is probably not what you mean because all it is is just a fancy name for the board the buttons are on. To adjust the red lines that you see, you can do digitally through the service menu but you would need a pattern generator with a component output for best results.
Make sure the information you already have is helpful to you and the model is KF-50XBR800 or else it will be little use because the information will not be revelent to your model. It may even be a completely different Technology(Proj CRT, DLP). There are no adjustment pots for Projection LCD TVs that I know of and did not see anything about in either the training or service manuals for this TV. These TVs usually can only be serviced on board level, Sony does not even authorize their Technicians to service them on component level.
To adjust digitally, use your remote control. When the TV is off, press [Display], [5], [Vol (+)], then [TV Power] all within one second of each other. The service screen should start with the TV powering on.
Below are instructions on how to navigate this service menu:
FUNCTION OF KEYS ON COMMANDER
• 1 : Changes adjustment item. (item No. moves up)
• 4 : Changes adjustment item. (item No. moves down)
• 2 : Changes adjustment category.
(category moves up)
• 5 : Changes adjustment category.
(category moves down)
• 3 : Changes data value. (up)
• 6 : Changes data value. (down)
If you want to recover the latest values press “-” then “[ENTER]” to read the memory.
Press “[MUTING]” then “[ENTER]” to write into memory before turning power off.
Note: Press “8” then “[ENTER]” on the remote commander to
set the shipping conditions or turn set off and on to exit.
Okay, finally now to the adjustments of the vertical red lines on your TV.
1. Set the following adjustment conditions, and display the test
pattern.
Adjustment conditions
Category Item Data
D-GM TEST 2 G-LUT SW 0
D-GM TPN 0 T-PATN SW 1
1 T-SIG SEL 0
2 PATN DIR 1
3 SIG LV DIR 0
5 B-LV 15
6 G-LV 15
7 R-LV 15
2. Set the test pattern to red color, and adjust the EVEN VR so
as to minimize vertical stripes (difference in brightness of
vertical lines every two dots).
Category Item Data
D-GM TPN 8 T-PATN RGB 1 (R)
LCD-DR 2 R ODD VR ADJ*
LCD-DR 3 R EVEN VR ADJ
*: Fundamentally, this item is adjusted with the EVEN VR only, but if
the adjustment range is not enough, the ODD VR may also be
adjusted.
3. Write the data by pressing the [MUTE] + [ENTER] buttons on
the remote commander.
Hope it helps! Good luck!
where did you read about the 50" model and what was the model number?
First try adjusting the D-GM TPN item 8 for data T-PATN RGB-1 (R) to minimize the red lines. Optimally, you need a signal generator in order to align it that has a composite output but usually consumer do not have this test equipment and unless you want to buy one, you can only eyeball it on a frozen dark picture.
Adjust the EVEN VR where it says R EVEN VR ADJ until you see the red lines being minimized under the category LCD-DR, item 2. You can also adjust R ODD VR ADJ under LCD-DR item 3 if there are still lines after adjusting the EVEN..
Pressing [MUTE] + [ENTER] on the remote control will save the adjustments.

Yes, I can point you towards the voltage control adjustment. You've mentioned that you have basically taken this TV apart, so I will start from the identifying the unit you want to adjust and skip how to expose the guts of your TV. We can cover that too later if you'd like.
These photos are of a Sony KP-51HW40, but the author was pretty convinced the voltage control adjustment module will be identical or very similar in the KF-60XBR800.
This is a picture of the front of the unit, behind the speakers.
The little black box
towards the front of the unit is where you will concentrate your time, as
it is the control for the voltage & convergence adjustment. Here is a close up:
When focused in on the
controls, you want to concentrate on the bottom row for the voltage /
ray gun projection adjustment. The colors are labeled below and from
left to right are blue, green, and red. Choose the one that needs to be
adjusted and turn ever so slightly with your Philips screwdriver to
remove the lines. In the authors case, the red just needed to be turned 1/8 of a
rotation to be back in adjustment. Do not turn to quickly or abruptly
or you could possibly damage your TV by varying the voltage too quickly.
That's it.
I hope that helps.
Thank you for choosing FixYa.
I regret our misunderstanding.

Thanks for your help.
You are quite correct. The KF-60XBR800 does not have a similar unit for voltage adjustment to the KP-51HW40. I have just begun to digest the Service Manual for the LA-A1 chassis right now and can confirm that vertical stripe adjustment is performed using the remote commander, not by turning anything with a screw.
It will take a little time to review the steps, at which point I will pass them on to you, if you are still interested.
I've gotten really busy outside the fixya website the last few days.
It sounds like you've been pointed in the right direction using your remote commander to tune the red lines out of your display.
I've just uploaded the service manual for your Sony KF-60XBR800 to RapidShare.
This has all the information you could care to read about modifying your tv, saving and resetting the settings.

No. This is the exact website I was referring to in my original post. It only deals with the 50 inch model and not the 60. The control unit it refers to does not seem to exist in the 60 inch model. I need to know whether the 60 inch model has a similar unit and if it does, where it is located.
Thanks for your help.
Hi again. As I stated before I had already seen this website and discovered that my tv is nothing like the 50 inch model. You asked me to look behind the speakers but on my tv, the speakers are in the back, not the front. There is no control unit that resembles the one in the picture. I have the front and back off the tv and can easily see every component inside it. This model must have a different control unit and thaf is what I need to find. Please help.
Also, I noticed that i have been charged 19.99 for this service. That is the price for the live service. Which I was booted out of because nobody was available. The website told me that if I did the email service instead that I would be charged $12.95 instead. So please credit my card for the $7.00 difference.
Thanks
Great. I look forward to your final solution using the remote commander.
Thanks.
Hi and thanks for the excellent information. I can get the tv into the diagnostic mode ok but can you provide a bit more detail about how to make (and keep) the adjustments. I have no problem with moving from selection to selection and I understand how to adjust values and parameters. I would appreciate more fine detail though before I feel confident enough to finish this.
Thanks again.
