I've just bought a new lid for my 1200 Technics turntable, but can't work out how to attach it and don't want to break anything trying first.

  • bass67 Oct 28, 2009

No, I have now bought hinges for the lid, but there are only enough screws for fixing one side and I don't know what screws to buy for the other. Can't seem to get information I need from anywhre, it's so frustrating.

Did the lid come with hinges, and plastic hinge holders?

All the new one dont have the hinges any more....The just ahve the rubber feet on the corners and it will just sit there...The older ones with the hinges will have a part sticking up..Slide the male part from the tables hinge into the female part of the hinge on the cover.

Hi, could just be platter not fitted hard down on spindle. I suggest you remove the platter and place it upon a dead flat surface to check to see that the platter is flat. If it is flat refit to turntable ensuring it is hard down on the spindle. If bent discard and replace with new platter.Platters can be ordered for all model 1200/1210 from [email protected]

Try plugging it into a different power point. The problem is with the power supply fluctuating. You can eliminate that with a UPS, here is a link to wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply

You will need to check your belt for wear. Lift felt on platter and check belt tension. It may need replacing. To replace, simply lift platter section of the unit, taking note of the belt position. replace and your problem will be solved

Technics 1200, no sound out right speaker

And it will be. I can almost steak my life on it. Easy to replace. Most djs had to already. Most off us went to Radio Shack and bought the 6 foot gold RCA's and cut them in half for both decks. Its not that hard to do. Any problems message me.

New RCAS on Technics 1200 Getting a Loud Buzzing Noise

It is not suggested that you remove the ground cable. Performing the mod for the ground by soldering a bridge on the circuit board doesn't really do anything either than remove that buzz/ground hum. You've essentially removed the wire that grounds the turntable cabinet to the earth. The buzz is gone, but now your turntable is no longer grounded properly.

I would suggest replacing the ground cable to it's original state, then attach the Monster cables.

If this does not work, then either there is an issue with the soldering to the board, or the board itself might be damaged. You might want to look at the trace paths to make sure none are lifted, or damaged in any way on the board. Another issue might be faulty tonearm wires or not properly soldered wires.

FYI, monster cables are not good for this purpose. I would suggest the following cables:

MOGAMI RCA CABLES

I have a technics 1200 mk2 turntable. It turns on properly, and appears to work, but when I place the needle on the record, I get nothing through the speakers. I don't know if the connection is being...

Turntable signal problems are difficult to locate because of the extremely low signal levels. Are you sure that you have the output of the turntable connected to a Phono input? If connected to a standard AUX or Tape input, you won't hear anything. Check for signal by turning on the unit and touching lightly the needle. You should hear a scratching sound. If not, start with a new needle.

Keep us posted.
