I suggest removing the toner, and visually inspecting it, make sure the sealing tab has been removed, give it a really good shake, as the toner may have settled in storage. re-insert the cartridge making sure it goes in the right way.

If you can hear a slight 'clicking' noise it's adding toner and pumping it into the developer unit, some machines take 2 minutes, some take 6..

Failing that, lift the platen cover and do a few black copies, so you force the machine to add toner.

You say you have checked the toner and there is "enough inside", I don't know how you can check this and the error suggests that the cartridge needs replacing. Have you tried a new cartridge ? This is the first step.
Is the cartridge you get the error with a Ricoh cartridge or a compatible. If compatible this could be the cause of your error.

I have a problem with a Ricoh Aficio 450 copier. The toner cartridge is full, but the screen says add toner. Now the toner slide out will not close.

My Ricoh CL7000 is saying add toner magenta. But there is plenty of magenta in the cartridge. I've added toner and cleaned out everywhere I can get to. Any suggestions?

It could be a clog in the toner tube, but the most likely (and easiest to fix) problem is the magenta DV unit. Replace the magenta DV unit, turn the machine off and back on, and if it still says add magenta toner open and close the toner cover so that it can load toner, then your problem should be gone.

I have a Ricoh 3900L and It prints very light and streaks in the center of the page I have cleaned it and my add toner light is not on. I faxes out fine it is the incoming faxes and copies that are bad.

It sounds like you probably need to replace your toner cartridge. The add toner light is not on because you still have toner in the cartridge, but some other part of the cartridge has likely gone bad (such as the developer or the drum). Replacing the toner cartridge should take care of your copy quality problem.
