Yes its a problem.but in the back of the unit there is a compressor ,beside that compressor there is a fan called compressor fan.check out if that fan is running properly or not.this fan runs when the unit is in defrost mode and stops when unit is in cooling mode.if the water in the compressor tray is full that means the unit is in defrost mode and fan should run.if the water in compressor tray is empty the fan will not run.the unit is in cooling mode.if the fan is running that way then the compressor is proper.but if its shutting off every 10 minutes then check out the defrost controller also called timer.its located beside the compressor fan.its black or white colour plastic box.that has to be replaced.unit goes in a defrost mode for 15 minutes and 3 times in a day. ------------ for parts you can get it from www.repairclinic.com -------------- This will help. The compressor running time depends on how cold you set the cold control (the colder setting , the compressor will be on more time and off less ) , also when you came from the grocery store and load the fridge , It will run more time beacause it needs to cool down the food , also depends on how often the refrigerators doors open during the day , so don't woorry , compressors are built strong enough that sometimes they run for several hours without a problem .

I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU SAID... THAT'S NOT TOTALLY ANSWERING MY QUESTION ! IT'S BEEN TWO MONTHS RUNNING LIKE THIS ( READ MY QUESTION, PLEASE ). ONE PERSON LIVING IN THE HOUSE...THE DOOR GET OPEN DURING THE DAY...ONCE OR TWICE ! THERE IS JUST A SMALL AMOUNT OF FOOD ( ONE PERSON ).STILL DURING THE DAY AND ALL NIGHT IT KEEPS RUNNING 8 TO 10 MINUTES,...THEN ....SHUTS OFF FOR 15 TO 16 MINUTES. IT REPEATS THIS CYCLE 24 HRS. A DAY...NON STOP ... OVER TWO MONTHS...!! IT'S STARTING TO DRIVE US CRAZY. I UNDERSTAND IF YOU OPEN THE DOOR ALOT...STORE ALOT OF FRESH FOOD..ETC. THE COMPRESSOR WILL RUN TO TILL IT COOLS DOWN.. THE REFRIGERATOR WAS SET WHERE THE MANUAL SAID FROM THE FACTORY... THE WHIRLPOOL REPAIR MAN LOWER IT ONE SETTING... BUT THAT DID NOT STOP IT FROM RUNNING THIS SAME CYCLE !!!

HAD INSTALLED ..... I HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF ONE RUNNING THAT WAY !!!
I FEEL I STILL NEED HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM....
