I have a Duravit toilet with a Geberit flushing mechanism. I have recently discovered a continual hissing sound coming from the cistern. It will stop occasionally when I flush the toilet but always restarts when I switch on a tap, shower or the washing machine. I have 3 toilets iin the house and the sound only occurrs in the main bathroom. I have also noticed a sliight dripping from the tank into the toilet pan.
Any advice would be great
Kind Regards

Hi I have exactly the same problem, in fact it could have been me writing this - 3 toliets fine, main bathroom hisses. The Geberit flushing ciphen on the left (the smaller one) has been replaced and there is still a problem. If you look carefully, the water level needs to come up over the lip of an opening on the Geberit part and this causes the valve mechanism to shut off and stop the hissing. It is fine for about 40 minutes and then the hissing starts again if you don't flush it. The reason is that the water level has gone down but there is no obvious signs of where the water is going. It could be that the central flush mechanism is leaking slightly. I am going to replace this part next. If I were you I'd see if you are getting any water leakage into the pan when toilet not in use to see if the water level in the cistern is going down James T
I had the same problem so I took the flushing valve out and went to get a new one from a plumbing supplies shop. The guy there took the upper section apart to look at the diaphragm, which was damaged. He told me that this is a common problem in parts of town with high mains water pressure. I bought a replacement diaphragm, fitted it and reassembled the cistern and the noise has gone. The guy in the shop said it will probably happen again, and that mixer taps in the house will suffer the same fate unless I get a plumber to fit a pressure limiting valve on the cold water main coming into the house.

Easy! I had the samw problem with my cistren which is Geberit. There is a diaphram in the WC filler valve unit which may need replacing. My plumber gave me one FREE! I replaced the old damaged one and hey presto it's fixed. There is a web site that sell these diaphrams follow this link if it helps: www.toiletspares.co.uk
Cheers! Xmas round the corner!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, we have a duravit toilet with a fixed cistern. After replacing the flange at the back of the toilet we have water seeping from under the toilet. Any idea where this could come from? There is no water visibly running down from anywhere.
