Our maytag Neptune Dryer is showing 8.8 on the display. It has done this in the past and we have had it looked at and they could fine nothing wrong. Now it doesnt work again.

looking at schematics looks like you main control board is the faulty part. you have done a very good job of tracing the voltages from the source. been that all voltages are present and door switch is good the part left is the control board. here is the part# 33002886. you can find it at sears website or service center.

inside the control panel is a tech sheet that has some diagnostics on it . there is a membrane button test or something to that effect. I suspect that the start/pause button is the problem and you would need to replace the console w/touchpad.about $130-140 new. there are some used ones on ebay.

Your probably going to have to remove the rear panel and take a look to see what is causing the noise.
Disconnect the power cord and exhaust tube, remove the rear panel and check for anything loose.
You can also pop the lid and fold it back to inspect the top of the tub and belt. Roll the drum all the way around and inspect the belt for "chunks" missing.

sonds as if you have abad door switch assy, uint not reconozing the door closed

test the capacitor / if open or shortage replace w/new same serial # etc

No unfortunately the only reset it to power dowm. Sounds like either the tuouchpad or control board has failed. I can help with sourcing these parts or any other questions feel free.

I have had the same problem over the past several months. Typically it would clear itself out (clear 8.8. on display) after several minutes. Today it reoccurred but this time it would not clear. I knew it was a problem with the control board. So I removed the control board and discovered that the capacitor for the 5VDC power had ?popped?. I replaced the capacitor and every thing worked! Hope this helps.

Just a quick question before I look at the control board myself. What are the values/ratings for the capacitor and resistor (ex. farads for cap, ohms for resistor, and volts/amps for both)? Or give me the Vender Part Number so I can look this information up. Thanks!
