Have 42 inch LG flat screen...for about 3 years...

Have a 42 inch LG flat screen...for about 3 years... turned it on today...and suddenly only half the picture can be seen and the screen is very dark....any ideas on how to fix it or has the tv gone bad?

Take the back off with no power connected..You should have 2 invertor pcbs..one on the left and one on the right..well the side of the picture you cant see is the same side of the faulty invertor..replace this and this should solve the problem.it is the cheapest option..if not..im afraid is is a new LCD screen unless you are prepared to take it appart and replace backlight bulbs :)

Buffer boards or Y-SUS main needs to be replaced. What do you mean by motherboard? The power supply board or the Logic or X main.... They YBU/YBL and the YSUS work in unison. Y-Buffer upper controls top half, Y Buffer lower control bottom have YSUS controls both of those. There is also D, G, E F boards that can split screan. But they to are controlled with the Y-SUS Main. Hope this helps...

Half Screen has colored lines, Half screen is working ok

there is a defected capacitor in the vertical circuit trouble shoot and replace. or if the vertical circuit is separate then replace the whole board.good luck
