I have a Magic Chef, counter top ice maker. It suddenly is making very tiny ice. I have descaled it but it did not fix the problem

If your Magic Chef counter top ice maker is suddenly making very tiny ice despite descaling it, there could be a few other possible reasons for this issue:
  1. Low water pressure: Check the water source that feeds the ice maker. If the water pressure is low, it can affect the size of the ice cubes that are produced. Try increasing the water pressure to see if it improves the size of the ice.
  2. Faulty thermostat: The thermostat controls the temperature of the evaporator plate in the ice maker. If the thermostat is faulty, it may not be allowing the plate to get cold enough to produce larger ice cubes. You may need to replace the thermostat to fix this issue.
  3. Dirty or clogged condenser: A dirty or clogged condenser can also affect the size of the ice cubes. Check the condenser coils and clean them if they are dirty. This will help improve the performance of the ice maker.
  4. Faulty compressor: The compressor is responsible for cooling the evaporator plate. If the compressor is faulty, it may not be able to cool the plate enough to produce larger ice cubes. In this case, you may need to replace the compressor.
If none of these solutions work, you may need to contact the manufacturer or a professional appliance repair service to diagnose and fix the issue.

I Have ice-O-Matic How to fix the ice machine if it only drops ice one and sometimes it'll drop Ice when you turn it back on and then off again.

If your Ice-O-Matic ice machine is only dropping ice intermittently or inconsistently, there are a few potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the water supply: Ensure that the water supply to the ice machine is sufficient and that the water inlet valve is fully open. Inspect the water line for any kinks or blockages that could restrict water flow.
  2. Clean the condenser: A dirty condenser can affect the ice machine's performance. Clean the condenser coils using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to remove any dust or debris that may have accumulated.
  3. Check the water filter: If your ice machine is equipped with a water filter, check if it needs to be replaced or cleaned. A clogged or dirty water filter can hinder water flow and impact ice production.
  4. Inspect the harvest cycle: The ice machine's harvest cycle may be experiencing issues. Ensure that the harvest switch is functioning properly and that the control board is working correctly. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for instructions on troubleshooting the harvest cycle.
  5. Verify the ice thickness control: If the ice thickness control is not properly set, it may prevent ice from dropping consistently. Adjust the ice thickness control according to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the correct ice thickness for dropping.
  6. Check for sensor issues: Ice machines often have sensors that monitor ice levels, temperature, or other parameters. Make sure these sensors are clean and functioning correctly. If a sensor is malfunctioning, it may need to be replaced.

Why is my ice dirty

There are two ways to get dirty ice - dirty water or a dirty machine.
If the water that the machine is processing is dirty, you'll get dirty ice. Check that your water filter is working properly, and that the filter core is in good condition. If the water supply to your machine is really dirty, consider a double filter.
Also, check inside your machine for deposits of silt, minerals or other undesirable materials. Clean out the inside of the machine thoroughly, but don't use any household cleaning products or acids - they will damage your machine or leave an undesirable perfume which will contaminate the ice - Just use water. Also don't use anything abrasive on the internal surfaces. If there are mineral deposits, you can dissolve them with household vinegar by soaking them or spraying them continuously, and then rubbing with a non-abrasive sponge. There are also commercial solvents especially for icemakers. Rinse the machine thoroughly to remove any odours, and throw away the first harvest of ice.

Dirty ice

Did you change the water filter recently? If so, you may have some air in the lines which can be purged with a few minutes of dispensing water through the front.
