I've spent a lot of time this weekend finally setting up Windows Vista Media Center, and I suddenly realised that Vista Media Center won't play Xvid and Avi files even if Windows Media Player will. If you want to add support for third party codecs including Xvid and Avi files in Vista Media Center then you need to install the Media Control Plugin For Windows Vista Media Center. This plugin allows Windows Vista Media Center to utilize te FFDShow decoder, which needs to be installed seperately ((FFDShow rev 1108 recommended: download the last version from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout)).
FFDShow adds support to Vista for MPEG-4 video formats like DivX,
Xvid, H.264 and also alllows MP3, AAC, Dolby AC3, and OGG Vorbis audio
files to be played back. The Media Control Plugin for Windows Vista MCE also adds the following additional features:
Switching embedded audio and subtitles streams while playing a video: works with AVI, OGM, MKV
Switching between external subtitle files (.SRT, .SUB)
Switching between FFDShow presets (audio & video)
Setting and loading bookmarks inside a video with visualization of the pictures of the saved bookmarks
Real fastforward (and rewind) exactly like in the TV module (with 3 different speeds)
Switching and setting post-processing filters in FFDShow (video filters only)
Separate application to assign keyboard/remote control shortcuts to the commands and the MCML pages of the plugin.
Full remote control support (6 buttons are mapped by default, but this can be changed)
Default mapping (works in full screen while watching a video, except the blue button that is always caught) :
Fast forward / rewind buttons
Blue button : loads the startup page of the plugin
Firstly i am not able to understand your problem correctly. What i think your problem i am writing solution according to that.
Try playing in different player or better player like vlc which can play all types of media files. May be there is some problem in your player caching. As caching needed everytime u play a movie.Try uninstalling your player then reinstalling.
It seems that subtitle file must have exactly same name as movie file.
For example:
Movie file: Mission impossible.avi
Subtitle file: Mission impossible.srt or Mission impossible.sub
or
Movie file: Mission_impossible.avi
Subtitle file: Mission_impossible.srt
Check the language settings on the DVD player. I'm not familiar with Panasonic machines, but most players have default language options for subtitles, soundtrack & menus.
You have to download a set of files, burn them on to a CD or DVD (check the help file in the download) and then insert the CD or DVD to your DVD Player and follow the on-screen instructions. It is really simple, just make sure you download the correct upgrade from the website. And one advice, use a RW DVD or RW CD because you may have to try it many times ;) .
look in the menu and try to change the encoding, There should be 3 options, Unicode, Cyrilic & Greek. Select greek if the .sub or .srt file is in ANSI encoding, or select Unicode if the file is in UTF-8 or Unicode encoding.
To find out the encoding of an .srt file the simpliest thing to do is open them with notepad and got to "File" -> "Save as", The encoding should appear in the bottom of the dialog.
it is quite easy to play those anoying subtitles
first name the same way both files (video file and subtitle file)
example
movie.avi
movie.srt
be sure that both files are in the same folder
second:
insert the cd/dvd in the yht-630
when the menu appears select the subtitle file using the arrow keys and press the "subtitle" key after this at the screen you will see -> subtitle selected
finally select the file that contains the movie (again arrow keys) and press "ok" or "play " key
the movie will start and the subtitles will appear.
it functions with sub and srt files
