Hi, have you tried reinstalling using the recovery partition?
When the Vaio boots up, start tapping F10 several times. When you see a screen:"Edit boot options", hit the Enter button on the keyboard to load the Recovery Partition. On the menu select:"Compete system restore", then on the right hand side select Start. If you are offered to do Hardware Diagnostics or Restore C:drive first, select the Skip option at the bottom and select Next.Follow the instructions to start the recovery. It takes two hours, so make sure the power adaptor is connected.
If you have formatted your hard drive or deleted the recovery partition, you have to contact Sony to get a set of recovery discs. They will probably charge you, so if you have a friend with the exactly same Vaio, use his recovery discs.

How to restore acer laptop to factory settings after it has been through alterations on OS

There is a distinct possibility that any recovery partition was wiped out in the downgrade to Windows 7. In the unlikely event that the recovery partition is still intact, then you may be in business. Reboot the machine and immediately press ALT+F10. This should bring up Acer recovery and allow you to re-install the original OS and settings. Be advised all other apps/data/settings will be wiped out in this process. If the recovery partition was deleted, this process will not work, and you will need to obtain and reinstall the Operating system manually.

I want to reformat my Toshiba M105.

There is nothing else to consider as you have copied the data files you need.
Boot up with the Toshiba recovery CD to setup the laptop back to the factory out of the box condition and follow the instructions.
A fresh copy of Windows will be installed plus the laptop's device drivers. You then need to install programs such as MS Office etc.

How do I retrieve lost files on Toshiba satellite windows 7 system

If the computer was formatted and was untouched after you will need recovery software to get the data back GetDataBackNTFS is really good costs about $59. If the computer no longer boots into windows you will need to pull the drive out (Typically 2 screws on back) Should be a small panel with a picture of little discs on it. Plug it into another computer. If it is detected you can simply copy and paste to the second computer, then put the drive back into the laptop and use your system recovery discs to restore the computer back to factory default and copy your data back over. If you plug the drive into another computer and it is not detected, the drive is probably damaged and would require a data recovery company to retrieve the data this can cost from $500-2000 depending on the recovery method.

How do i resart my Toshiba Satellite P105-S6114 to factory settings without the recovery discs?

Quite simply, you cant. You would normally do this by inserting the original recovery disc in the cd drive and press F12 as you turn it on.

The only options available are asking Toshiba for the discs (for which they might charge) or see if you can find someone with the same machine and borrow theirs.

I have a toshibasatellite 4080xcdt laptop and i erased my hard drive. my computer keeps aking for a system disk. what kinda of disk do i need?

Hi,

The disc you have will be the drivers disc, not the windows disc, did you not burn a set of recovery discs when you first got your pc? It should not have deleted the recovery partition from the hard drive while doing a destructive recovery; it should only have wiped the c partition and left the other alone unless you set it to do both. If your recovery partition is gone the only thing you can do is contact Toshiba and ask for a set of Recovery Discs or buy a new copy of windows.

Compaq presario start up

If the computer has or had a "Certificate of Authenticity" on the bottom, something that has the Windows XP key on it, then you have a license to run a copy of Windows on that machine. One way would be to go to eBay and buy a Compaq restore CD. You might have a hard time finding one that's made specifically for your computer.

There may be an easier method though. Many laptops have a complete recovery disc stored on the hard drive, which you can use to burn your own copies. If you follow this and find the Recovery Creator program, your laptop is one of these:

Click Start--> All Programs --> System Recovery --> PC Recovery Disc Creator .

If you don't find that, then another tactic would be to contact Compaq. Most companies will have copies that you can purchase for a fee. CLICK HERE TO GO TO COMPAQ'S SITE TO BUY ONE.

good luck.
