My Sanyo DP46848 LCD TV display goes black when turned on.

You have a defective LCD panel tab connection. The only permanent fix is to replace the panel. A replacement panel will cost more than a new set. I had the same problem with the exact same set.

Specifying the model - and in case of Sanyo TVs the chasis - is critical for faster and proper diagnostics of such problems.

Line faults & possible causes to LCD & Plasma screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent. Faults to all LCD & Plasma screen are similar, irrespective of its brand and screen size.

LCD it is likely an inverter board--one drives left and one drives right side of screen--a few combine both into a single board.

i would say buy new as it sounds like your whole datata buffer on the rear left has failed

Why not return the television back to where you brought from that they rectify the problem.

Sounds like dirty connection on the T-Con board at the top center of the lcd display.

The left side of my tv is going black. Why is it doing this?

I have the same problem, my television is faded black on the left side with lines on the left top side. I have had the 46 inch unit for 1 year and 7 months. I am planning to write a demand letter to Sanyo and then taking them to small claims court woth evidence that this is a common problem with their units that they know about and is not trying to remedy. Also the Attorney general in Texas should have an interest in them (Walmart and Sanyo) selling these defective proucts in the state.
