First look at your printer identification.

You can see it in either the display or on the startup or configuration pages.

It must have a "D" in the name for you to be able to do automatic duplexing. i.e. 8400DN or 8400DX . Then you can scroll to printer setup
and select defaults, and then turn on the duplex, or double sided printing.

If yours does not have a "D" i.e. 8400, 8400N then you would need a new sim card to enable the duplex option.

So I can switch the SIMM Card from our *dead* 8400DP & put it in our 8400N and it will print duplex?

Can we use the Simm Card from the Xerox 8400DP to print duplex in our Xerox 8400n?

Xerox Phaser 8400 prints pdfs in half page

I've seen this issue on some of my other Xerox machines (not the 8400 specifically). 9 times out of 10 the solution is to update both the printer driver to the newest version, as well as updating Adobe Reader to the newest version.

Here are the links to each:

Can you please tell me how to print double sided? Thanks

Xerox Phaser 8400 does not support double sided prints. You have to have a Duplex Unit for Phaser 8400 part number 097S03177 to be able to print double sided. If you have the duplex unit, on the Print dialog box just click Preferences and under 2-Sided Printing select 2-Sided Print then Apply.

Xerox Phaser 8400

That is a problem with print head movement. Either side to side or tilt. There is a stainless steel print head block located on the left side of the frame, about 2/3 of the way back and near the bottom, It may be contaminated with ink. Or the print head wiper may be tacked to the print head. If you want info how ot access and repair, let me know.

Envelope printing

The manual bypass tray on the Phaser 8400 can be set only when you have paper in the tray.

The envelope will read in the set up when you have it in the tray.

I have a Xerox Phaser 8400 and it states that I need a IEEE 1284 Parallel Printer Cable. I ordered that cable. One end fits to my PC, but the other end does not fit on the printer it is too big. The...

An 8400 prints with a USB or a cat 5 cable ( ethernet, regular internet cable). You can not print to a Phaser 8400 with a parallel cable. I really can't figure why you would get that message. You enter the network settgings and set an IP address, then configure your print driver to match.
There is no parallel port on a 8400.

The first obvious question is, "Does it have blue ink/wax?" Is it displaying any errors? Have you tried the Xerox support site? They have a fantastic utility that can connect to your printer and diagnose many problems. Here's the URL for the utility: http://www.phasersmart.com/ They also have a wealth of information in their knowledge base. Here's the URL for the support page for the Phaser 8400: http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/color-printers/phaser-8400/sprt-enus.html Did anything happen before the blue quit printing? Have you tried running a cleaning cycle?
