Buzzing/fizzing noise from back of sony flat screen tv

All the time my sony 40w5500 bravia is on I can hear a buzzing/fizzing type of noise from the back top right hand corner. Not very loud. This maybe quite normal? Can anyone put my mind at rest? The TV works perfectly.

Maybe some clarification could lead to more peace of mind. Just as an FYI: Many power supplies inside such units today will generate a very low buzz as it converts wall power to DC inside and generates a "buzz" in some cases to do so. However if the noise is objectionable when listening to TV sound it may be a filtering defect. Interference: It is possible some other device nearby or plugged into the same outlet is simply creating interference. You can try ensuring no other electronics are close-by, using a different outlet with nothing else plugged in, or a good power strip. Also if the unit has a three-prong plug be sure that all three pins are connected to a good grounded outlet to get best (and safest) results. If that is no help: Do you know anyone else with same TV model you can check with to hear what theirs does? Or any same model units in a store nearby where you may be able to stop by and check?

Below is an image of rear side of your TV, Sony KDL-40W5500
Top right corner is marked there and possible cause of noise seems back light inverter board, there are high voltage going to CCFL inside LCD panel and seems high voltage leakage causing that buzzing/ fuzzing noise.

Replace back light inverter board upon voltage leakage confirmation.
Thanks.

40 inch sony bravia making buzzing noises....any suggestions

Hello,
There are 2 small 1.5" fans that are located on the top right and left sides of the screen. These fans are of the non ball bearing type, so the bearings may be wearing out. You can either replace the fan or add a couple drops of oil to it. Remove the label on the back of the fan and put the oil there, it should quiet down. This will work for a while but eventually the fan will need to be replaced.
Good Luck!

Wall plug for TV buzzes

Have the outlet checked by a qualified electrician. Sounds like either a power issue or ground. You should not get a buzz from an outlet for any reason.
If you plug something else into the outlet does it make the same noise?
If yes, something going on with the power. If not, then the TV power supply might be doing it, but the noise would be behind the TV and not the outlet.
