I have a 2 port soho kvm. When my pc was switched off I unplugged everything then plugged it all back in. When I turned it back on my mouse and keyboard worked on pc1 but wouldn't work on pc2. Any idea what's happened and how I can fix it? thanks :) (I have two kvm's as I have a dual monitor, one kvm controls the monitor 1 and the other monitor 2. The mouse and keyboard are plugged into the one which controls monitor 1. Not sure if this makes a difference)

1. Power down everything
2. Turn on the KVM
3. Turn on each unit

I have a Avocent KVM I can swicth in between computers but the mouse and keyboard will work on one but not the other. I have reseated everything restarted multiple times to no effect.

Boot the computers in order making sure the one you are about to switch on is selected on the switch. Start with 1, then 2 etc. Make sure the computer fully loads and then log into it before moving on.

I just bought d-link kvm-221... switching two pc's in a single monitor is working fine but the problem is my keyboard and mouse are not working (didn't detect by kvm-221).

D-Link KVM's have a shortcut for "resetting" keyboard+mouse.

Hold down Scroll Lock and press M

If that does not help, try unplugging mouse and keyboard for 3 seconds then plugging them in again.

Mouse and keyboard not recognized on second computer

Solution for the mouse. I have 8 KVM's. Most of my computers work with the KVMs. On 1 inland KVM the logitect and Microsoft optical mice do not work on one computer (but work with the other computers). They both are USB. I hook them up with a USB to PS2 adapter. If I use a ps2 ball mouse connected to the KVM the mouse works. All the Mice work if I directly connect them. Since I do not want a ball mouse I got a Frisby optical PS2 mouse. It works with all the computers on the KVM's.

I do not have a solution for the Keyboard yet. 1 computer (ASUS MB) on my trendnet or belkin 4 postion KVM does not recognize the keyboard.

Belkin (F1DK102P) 2-port KVM Switch freezes

We have the same model and the same problem. The scroll lock combo did not work for us. You need to press Ctrl, Ctrl then up or down arrow.

The manual was a load of old Tom *** as it did not mention this.

Not running on startup

I occasionally have a similar problem with a couple of my KVM?s and I think it relates to the circuitry in the KVM that is supposed to fool the PC into thinking a mouse/keyboard is attached. Windows doesn?t see the mouse so it doesn?t load the drivers unless you force it. What works for me is to just start the PC and switch the KVM to that PCs port and leave it there till the computer finishes booting. Then its safe to switch to the other port, probably not the elegant solution you were looking for but it works every time.

KVM switch mouse trouble

Does a mouse work if plugged directly into the laptop? Sometimes you have to change a laptop in the BIOS to allow a PS2 mouse in addition or instead of the touchpad. It may not be recognizing the KVM as a mouse. Try plugging the mouse right into the laptop and see if that works.

Problem with Belkin OmniView KVM F1DS102P

Is the LED for position 1 and 2 always on? If the switch doesn't detect power on the PS2 keyboard connector it won't let you switch to to that position. If you are using a USB mouse with an adaptor or a wireless mouse try a conventional PS2. I have a MS wireless mouse one of my switches does not like and have to resort to that sometimes. Another issue could be excessive cable length or PS2 extension cables. Let us know if you have any more questions on this topic and please don?t forget to rate the post.
