I have a phillips 50 inch plasma- model 50PFP5332D/37- when its plugged in it makes a clicking noise and the light is on indicating it is on, but picture never comes on- help

Main digital processor IC on the board has damaged. It is not a replaceable part, as normal soldering techniques cannot be applied to de-solder it out from the board, or to solder a new one in place. Card base replacement should be done.

Most Common problem is Bad Capacitors on the power supply board, they will be vented or swollen on Top. 1000uf 16v 2200uf 10v 3300uf 10v

I have the same problem. after pulling the back off. we found that the 3 capaciters above the 2 power relay switches are bad. i am currently looking for a scematic so i can replace the 2 dios that burned up due to the issue along with the capasitors.

The tv power supply board is the causes and the problems.That the board,where the power a/c cord plug into it.Try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

This is likely the relay that connects the AC to the main power supply although in a plasma TV it could indicate a failure of the high voltage power supply for the display itself.
Turning on most sets causes a small power supply for the infrared remote receiver to connect the main power supply to AC. If the power supply itself is defective, the relay interrupts or if the supply is still healthy, it may disconnect the AC again to prevent damage to the main supply and possibly a fire.
Since there are two primary sources for this problem and no good way to separate them as the faulty part, you will need a tech to be on site to determine exactly which failure has occurred.

If you see bad capicators, just replace the ones that appear to be bad. There are many different types of capicators on the power supply and there are different part number for each one. The good thing about capicators is they almost always list the ratings on the capacitor itself.

Check the Voltage rating (V) and the Farad ratings (F, usually μF), you can replace them with any one that has the same ratings. Make sure BOTH of them match the old ratings, you can purchase at just about any electronics store that carries electrical components such as RadioShack.

Commonly it's going to be a power supply related problem. The two boards that need to be looked at is the Main Power Supply Board or the power supply board for the screen. The one that powers the screen, some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
If you have some electronic experience, you can sometimes find a Service Manual for the TV over the internet for less than $20. It will have the all resource material for repairing your TV model. It's just the matter of replacing the bad part on the circuit board.

My parents have a Philips 50PFP5332D/37 the blue indicator light is on but there is no picture or sound. Is there anything I can do to help them fix it outside of calling a tech. I can get parts and fix tvs but unfortunately I am in another state 7 hours aways.
