Recovering xD data is always tricky as the specifications have never been publicly available, it's only during the last couple of years that reverse-engineering has produced software able to do so.

I've found that there are plenty of recovery tools which can recover the raw data but very few which can actually make sense of it. I'd suggest that you first see if there's a money back option on CardRecovery and then try a free trial of Acute Tools PhotoNose ( http://www.acutetools.com/photonose/xd-card-recovery.aspx ). I haven't had the chance to try it for myself yet but I've heard from a couple of friends that it does work. F Recovery xD has also been recommended to me but again I have yet to try it for myself. ( http://www.filerecoverytools.com/products/fr_xd-picture/ )

What is certain at the present time is that there are no reliable free xD recovery tools, so whatever else you buy ensure that it either has a free trial or a money back option.

I hope that you have found my posting to be useful and ask in return only that you remember to rate my answer.

My olympus E50 won't save to the XD card . . .

If your Olympus E50 camera is not saving photos to the XD card, there could be a few different reasons. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the XD card: Make sure that the XD card is properly inserted into the camera and that there is enough space available on the card for the photos you are trying to save. It's also important to check that the XD card is not locked, damaged, or corrupted.
  2. Check the camera's settings: Make sure that the camera is set to save photos to the XD card and not to the camera's internal memory.
  3. Format the XD card: Formatting the XD card will erase all data on it, but it can also fix some file system errors. Make sure to back up any important files before formatting.
  4. Check the camera's firmware: Make sure that the camera's firmware is up to date.
  5. Check the camera's manual: Some cameras may have different settings or limitations that affect the use of the XD card.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be best to contact Olympus customer support for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose and fix the issue or tell you if a repair is needed.
It's important to keep in mind that the Olympus E50 is an older model camera, which makes it harder to find replacement parts and professional repair services.

How to transfer photos taken by an Olympus Camedia C-1000 L to a computer?

To transfer photos taken by an Olympus Camedia C-1000L camera to a computer, you can use the following method:
  1. Connect the camera to the computer using a USB cable.
  2. Turn on the camera and set it to the "PC" or "Computer" mode.
  3. On your computer, a new drive or a pop-up window should appear, indicating that the camera has been recognized.
  4. Open the drive or window and navigate to the folder where your photos are stored.
  5. Select the photos you want to transfer and copy them to your computer by using drag and drop or "Copy" and "Paste" functions.
Alternatively, you can use the Olympus Camedia Master software that came with the camera to transfer photos. Once connected and the software is open, you will be able to see the camera's content, then you can select and transfer the photos to your computer.
It's important to keep in mind that the Olympus Camedia C-1000L is an older model camera, which may not be compatible with the latest version of computer operating systems, so it's recommended to check the software and the operating system compatibility before transferring the photos.

Olympus sp-550uz wont take photos

Okay so you're probably first thing I would do is make sure that the batteries and charging is good and the camera has power and enough power to operate the second thing I would focus on is the memory card they can wear out they can go bad and they can break I would try different memory card I'm also attaching the manual for that camera make sure you get a memory card that belongs with that camera even though they look the same they have different speed ratings on the card from 1 to 10 make sure you have the exact and proper memory card it's made for that camera or it will not work http://cs.olympus-imaging.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/manual/zoom/man_sp550_e.pdf

How to remove write protect from olympus xd card

You don't state whether you've tried using the tiny switch located on the xD card to unlock it.

If it is already in the unlocked position then push it fully to the locked position and then fully back again.

If this does not work then please report back for additional options.

Is it possible to recover my formatted pictures on my XD card

Deleting or formatting won't make the data in xd card erased permanently.

Those deleted data is still stored on the xd card, it's just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of xd card .

So as long as those data are not overwritten by new data, it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.

Try asoftech data recovery program, which can recover data after deeply scanning your xd card drive to look for lost data you accidentally deleted or formatted.

Recover deleted photos

I have had success with this... Download Asoftech photo recovery program
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

Olympus 2G xd M card with pictures - error message "clean card" or format

Just had the same issue today. The Olympus Helpdesk told me that the fact I had printed one of the picture from the Xd card in directly inserting the card in the printer slot for Xd created the problem....
The guy from the Helpdesk strongly recommended to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer exclusively using the USB cable of the camera.
In the end I have saved all my 505 pictures in using the Smart Recovery from PC Inspector but why the hell this problem only happens with Xd cards?

PHOTOS ON INTERNAL MEMORY - HOW DO I TRANSFER THEM TO CARD SO THAT I CAN GET THEM PRINTED AT SHOP?

Hi KarenB,
Not sure if anyone ever got back to you on this but i just had the same problem then googled it and found this
Yes, the [BACKUP] feature will transfer files from the camera's internal memory to an xD-Picture Card™ flash memory card. It does not delete those files from the internal memory. To perform a backup, insert an xD-Picture Card flash memory card into the camera and then turn the camera on. Press the [MENU] button. Press the Right arrow button to select the Setup icon, and then press the [OK] button to enter the Setup menu. Use the Up or Down arrow to select [BACKUP], and then press [OK].
