First try to unplug it for an hour and then plug it back in. Also, make sure that the outlet it is plugged into is working. Finally, clean the back of the unit. There should be an exposed radiator pipe coil and a fan below. If it is dirty or full of pet hair, it will shut down the compressor.

Most electronic equipment fails to work in an instant. Its better to make sure they are tested once in a while through test equipments. It definitely sounds like your motherboard is bad.

This thread explains about it:

Can't remove ice storage bin from Kitchenaid side by side

This units are prone to do this. Best way for me to tell you is to work ice bucket side to side. Then shut the freezer door and switch between the cube and crushed ice. Tap the dispenser lever just long enough to engage motor. Basically you are rocking the coupling back and fourth in the auger assembly. Will come loose but may take a bit.

Dispenses crushed ice instead of cube ice

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

My ice maker is not despensing ice, but water works. It is a GE Monogram refridg. Water works, but when you change to ice, nothing happens. when it was acting up, all it would do is dispense crushed ice,...

Could you look on the bottom frame of your GE Monogram around the door frame and behind the fresh food section door seal for the model number? The problem most likely is in that control panel that you use to switch from crushed to cubes. Let me know, Sea Breeze

ICE MAKER

Sounds like you are not getting enough water into the ice maker tray. When the ice ejector removes the ice from the tray, it may be causing the ice to splinter which is the crushing you describe. The problems could be:

* The water inlet valve
* The ice maker water inlet is partially frozen in the freezer section
* There is a problem with the water line (kinked or partially obstructed)
* The timing mechanism for the inlet water valve isn't working correctly

Check #2 from the above list first
