TV channel shows up behind the picture while watching dvds!

We just got a new TV and now when watching dvds, it's as if the picture is being superimposed over whatever tv channel the cable is set to at the moment. The tv show moves across the screen from left to right, and flickers, while the dvd is playing otherwise normally. Fortunately there is no sound from the tv show. We tried unplugging the cable from the tv, which fixes the problem but makes the picture quality of the dvd much more grainy. This never happened with our old tv, so either we hooked the new Dynex tv up wrong, or else there's a problem with the tv itself. I assume the problem is in the connection. I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks.

This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

My Tv no longer registers a signal from the antenna. I can see a picture thruogh my smart DVR and Chromecast but no pic with TV antenna. I bought a new antenna, still no signal.

Is the TV set to air or cable? It has to be set to air/antenna and a channel search has to be done first before a picture will show.

Hi john,

Maybe you had pressed AVI/Video button. It is used to show DVDs or other players plugged into your TVs. You can look for a TV option in the remote and when u press on it,u might get back the TV Channels.

How can i watch dvds on this old sanyo tv?

does your tv have a scart socket or is it pre scart, if it does, and you connect the dvd player via the scart then the tv should auromativally switch to av when the dvd player is switched on. failing that, if you have no scart, then the only way you can watch dvd is by connecting a flylead from dvd player to tv, (take out antenna and put it in that socket) and then start a search if you can, normally the buttons for this are behind a flap somewhere on the tv. if you have no scart or a way of tuning tv, then i dont think you can watch dvd through that tv

Red distortion

it sounds like your IR board is going out, its easy to replace and is inexpensive usually about 10.00 plus tax and shipping, and very easy to install, its one of the few parts you can buy for these models outside of the 479.00 dollar control box.
