There are several methods covered in various threads on this forum. I assume you have removed the nut on the generator end of the shaft that extends all the way to the engine shaft, and keeps the armature connected to the engine shaft (I missed that, but it didn't take long to figure it out!). One way is to unbolt the stator from the engine and carefully remove it from around the armature, after removing all the brushes from their holders. You can usually "wiggle" the armature sideways a bit, and it should come apart. Not always, though. Others have installed a grease fitting on the end of the armature and used a grease gun (with the associated pressure) to get the two pieces to separate. The engine shaft is tapered; the armature shaft is not. The fan/adapter is made of aluminum and the shafts are steel; therefore, some "galling" usually occurs that makes the shafts somewhat difficult to remove. The tapered shaft usually comes apart fairly easily; if you have to remove the adapter from the armature, heroic measures sometimes have to be used (heat, a press, etc.). The adapter is keyed to the engine shaft, so the two items won't "slip" on each other. Do a search, and you should find some other options.
There is screws that mount it to the main frame take those off then the engine is free but still with the electric parts ther are screws that take apart the engine from the generator unscrew those with a socet rench than insid there will be 4 more take them off and the it is one engine with no generator!!!
the only problem is now your gas tank is in the top off the frame so you will need a different gas tank it you will build somthing around the engine itself.
That one was easy!
use your eyes!!!!!
