I have a Sony Wega rear projection 55 inch LCD HDTV. The TV turns on and there is picture and sound for about 30 seconds, then the screen goes blank (no picture or sound) and then comes back on about 30 seconds later, then repeats over and over. The green power light stays on the entire time (even when no sound or picture). If I power off the TV during the period where the screen is blank and no sound and then power it back on, there is a red blinking light where the power light is. It blinks 5 times, pauses, and then repeats. I am then able to turn the TV back on, but the same thing recurs: picture and sound for 30 seconds, then I lose both for 30 seconds, then they come back, etc.
I turned down the picture level on the menu screen and it stopped immediately also changed the picture mode to pro
HelloFive blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the
timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the
self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video
out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check
Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK
blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

If you have not done it before I would recommend changing the entire assembly. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which explains how to fix this and where to get the parts. Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

3 times red light blink indicates that lamp cover is not fixed properly. This can happen if you took out lamp from tv or replaced it. Lamp cover is plastic cover that need to be removed from tv cabinet to access lto lamp.
Make sure lamp cover is back in its position securely and turn tv On.
Thanks.
