I am unable to route my HDMI signal through the receiver. My DVD and cable works fine directly to the TV but not via the receiver. I am not sure what setting needs to be changed on the receiver for it to work.
Please help!
Thanks
I have the same receiver and TV that I just bought 2 weeks ago.I cannot get the video to work with the HDMI cables. I have sound though.I Have the TV connected from HDMI3 to OUT on the receiver and the cable box connected to IN1. I am sometimes able to get the picture to show up by "tricking" the TV and connecting another HDMI wire, but when I turn off the TV I lose it again. The problem is the TV, I connected the receiver to another TV and it worked fine with video and sound. I sometimes get an error message from the TV " HDMI switching through the AV Receiver is not supported". I do not know what this means or how to overcome it. I have spent hours and tried every combination of settings possible but until I can break this error message, what can I do to overcome this problem?
In the setup guide, try going to the HDMI option where you turn the montior out to "on" for the HDMI output. I don't believe that the receiver comes with the HDMI out already turned on...

Don't know about the DVD player (ours works fine with this receiver), but I do know the Motorola cable box we have won't send a signal to anything but the TV. This is a known problem with the cable box, and apparently can't be fixed.
Hello,
I connected a ONKYO Tx-SR605 Receiver to a Mitsubishi 73” DLP TV. My connections were as follows.
My DirecTV HD box and a Sony Blu-Ray were connected to the ONKYO receiver’s HDMI 1 & 2 inputs. The ONKYO receiver HDMI output was then connected to the Mitsubishi TV HDMI input #1. I did have the ONKYO receiver HDMI output to the TV turned on.
I also have an Xbox connected by way of the Mitsubishi TV HDMI #2 input, and a Optical Digital cable connected for the Xbox to the ONKYO receiver Optical input #1. This connection was necessary because the ONKYO receiver only has two HDMI inputs.
This connection worked for about 40 days. Any time we wanted to watch TV, we just needed to be on the TV’s input #1, then switch to the TV’s input #2 when we wanted to play the Xbox. And like I said, this worked great for 40 days.
One day when we had the TV’s set to input #2 because we were playing the Xbox. Then we wanted to watch a movie so we tries to switch back to the TV’s input #1 to get the signal from the ONKYO receiver the was connected to the TV’s HDMI input #1.
What had happened id the TV for some reason lost the setup for the ONKYO receiver. It was like it was never their. I tried to do any thing the book had on setting up the connection but The only way I got it to work was to hit the reset button in the front of the TV. After I got it to work again and then I would turn the TV and then back on, or if I were to change the TV’s HDMI input #2 to play the Xbox, and then tried to switch back to the TV’s HDMI #1 it would be lost again.
Also when I was trouble shooting this issue, I was able to get the TV working with the ONKYO receiver by unplugging the HDMI cable, and then plugging it back into a different HDMI input on the TV. But I would still have the same trouble and the connection would be lost.
I got the TV to work, but what I had to do is do a factory reset on the TV the connect everything directly to the TV’s HDMI inputs, and then connect the ONKYO receiver by way of a Coax cable to the Digit input of the ONKYO receiver.
How can I get it to work again using the ONKYO receiver as the hub instead of the TV? Connected the way I have it now, I’m not taking advantage of the ONKYO receiver’s HDMI inputs as well as it’s 7.1 capabilities.
I think I may have either turned something on or off in either the TV or the receiver, and it is creating the problem. Besides video and sound, it seems they are creating systems so HDMI connected components can control each other by way of the HDMI connection.
Could something like this be causing the problem? I did try different HDMI cables.
Thanks,
Robert…

NEED TO KNOW WHAT WIRES TO HOOK TO TV AND CABLE BOX FOR EVERYTHING TO WORK
I have the issue where my setup has been working for about 6-8 months and now experiencing similar problems.
Tried to turn it on one evening and there was no image.
Denon DVD - HDMI1 + Coax1 (Denon DVD apparently needs a different source for sound)
Sky+ HD - HDMI2
No picture from either but sound from DVD. (looks like the HDMI ports)
I've taken the HDMI cables out of the Onkyo and connected them directly to the TV and they work fine. I've also switched them around and reconfigured the Onkyo settings
Am I missing something or is my Onkyo needing a replacement ? :(
Is there a way to reset the factory defaults on the Onkyo TX-SR605
DVD works fine through cables not HDMI because DVD player does not have HDMI adaptation
TV is the problem....HDMI cable is running from HD Cable box to reciever input 1 and and another HDMI cable is running from the reciever HDMI out to the Sharp Aquos TV in the input 4 HDMI slot....I can hear volume but i do not recieve any picture.....i did the setup but it does not give me a choice of input4 just input 1 and 2, but HDMI on my TV is Input 4 ...
