This is not the solution to your exact problem but for those looking for why there timer will not advance and why it keeps running: The usual problem is not the timer but the mosture sensor.
1: Check the mosture sensor light/indicator. If is still shows some mosture or flashes even when the items are dry, you have a mosture sensor problem, probably not a timer issue - luck you.
2: Check if the timer will advance and the dryer will turn off when you have it in the TIMED mode (i.e. 10mins - NOT the more/less dry modes.) If so, then it is indeed a sensor problem.
2: Check that the wires to the mosture sensor have not fallen off (as in my case - a simple repair). The senor is usually two metal bars somewhere near the front part of the inside of your dryer. You may have to take off the door and the front pannel (be sure to unplug the dryer first) to get at the two wires to clip on to the sensor. Clean any lint and make sure they are conneted. If well connected then replace the sensor ($15-$20 and very easy to do).
Just fixed my dryer! i had the problem of the dryer not cycling from more dry to less dry to off. It would continue to run on more dry until i would stop it by opening the door or until ultimately a spontaneous combustion of all dryer contents would occur!
solution for me was simply cleaning the ducting. I used my big shop-vac with the hose connected to the blow side and blew out the duct. an impressive amount of lint came out the other side! i let the shop vac blower work for about thirty minutes until i could see no more lint flying out. secured all the ducting joints with duct tape, hooked it back to the dryer and tah dah..... dryer is working as normal again.
dont let your house burn down because of dryer lint, clean these regularly!!!
A quick followup to my problem. The fix was to replace the "main board" (I am sure there is a better name for it, but it is the board that all others plug into. It has been replaced for a couple months and everything seems to work.
First u have to find out if u have a blocked vent first remove dryer exhaust an run a load then .if still dont advance then u have to get to timer .remove screws to back of panel check voltage to timer moter .if 120 there replace timer .if not then the u could have problem with sensor thermostat.or broken wire..u have to take temp check on vent.to verify if thermostat is working .but when u get this far into it usually u need service tech.
The control panel wiring open need to reconnect.

dryer timer did not move and because it is a sealed unit I purchased a new timer and it does not move and the dryer still runs all the time. It does dry the clothes but will not shut off without opening the door
Dryer will usually not turn off (sometimes the timer works), intelli-sense light turns on when starting the load, the to damp, then off, but dryer still runs. I have changed out the "timer" to no avail.
I replaced my timer and it still wont shut off !
