Hello there:
here is some troubleshooting ideas for you to help
A dryer sometimes won't heat or heats too slowly because of a variety of reasons. By following the guidelines below, you can inspect the heating elements on a gas or electric dryer to pinpoint the source of the problem.
Electric heating elements, found in electric dryers, are self-contained units located in the back of the dryer. A defective heating element is frequently the source of no-heat or drying problems. Remove the back service panel to gain access to the elements.
The heating elements are located inside the heater ducts. If you think a heating element is faulty

Have it tested or simply replace the element
This is a common item that fails on these units they do not last forever ok
the cost for this particular part is right at $60-70 dollars. ok
Hope that this is verry helpfull for you
    best regards michael

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

Broken Kenmore dryer 80 series

Hi Dave. The problem is the drive belt. They aren't that difficult to replace and can be done with just a few tools. I'll need the exact model number off of the dryer to explain how to gain access to it, though. The number can be found behind the door on the cabinet (it'll start with 3 digits then a decimal point then more digits, like this; xxx.xxxxxxx)

The part number for the repair is 4392065. This is a complete maintenance kit for your dryer. I recommend it because since your belt wore out, there are other parts that should be taken care of at the same time. Here's a picture and a place to order if you can't find it locally.
