Have you checked the filter it may need cleaning. It can get clogged and this will sometimes stop it spinning. Often found behind a small door at the bottom of the machine. Open and unscrew. Water may escape, but see if it looks like it needs cleaning. Good luck.
Can you provide the exact Make, Model and Kenmore model number?
Kenmore model numbers use the format ###.######## with the first three digits of 110 for Whirlpool manufactured machines.
This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.
First, see the Sears parts site for your washer: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action
Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.
Assuming that it does spin, the problem points to the drain pump and/or clogged hoses.
See the following on how to remove the cabinet and pump.
Hi, this can be two issues here. Number one would be a busted belt. The next issue would be a drive assembly failure. this consist of the clutch and gear case(transmission) assembly. I would check these areas out. you will find the problem here.
remove the cold water hose at the unit and look in the hole where the hose conects if the screen is clean then the valve is bad if it it cloged clean it
sounds like a lid assy issue, can you hear a "clicking" just before the lid is closed, try opening nad closing a few times listening for a distinct "click" if not the machine doesnt think the door is closed and for safety reasons wont spin and drain.
Is it a front loader?
