Frozen PDT6846 Hello, we tried to send .hex file to PDT. It worked but after time PDT has blocked. Cold and warm boot doesn't work. Is there any chance to fix it without special support? Thank you

Try to increase the memory

Warm Boot:

- Press the "PWR" button to turn the unit off.

- Press the "4" and "5" keys at the same time.

- While still pressing the "4" and "5" keys press and release the "PWR' button again.

- Release the "4" and "5" button.

- The PDT6846 should perform a warm reboot.

Cold Boot:

- Press the "PWR" button to turn the unit off.

- Press the "B", "D" and "A" keys at the same time.

- While still pressing the "B", "D" and "A" keys press and release the "PWR' button again.

- Release the "B", "D" and "A" button.

- The PDT6846 should perform a cold boot.

I've seen this fault many many times. Its either a software fault which can be remedied by reloaded the software lwp.hex, udp.hex and the application or a hardware fault where the flash chips are not being accessed correctly.

So basically try and reload, if that fails it will need to be repaired.

The PDT6840 has 3 files loaded into it at any one time LWP.HEX, UDP.HEX and an application. SLOADI comes up on the screen during boot. You may require reloading of the software to enable this function again.

you can get it from www.wavelink.com they are quite good and still offer the files for the older terminals. however, you may need to get a license from them in order to use it on the pdt.

You cannot access C: Drive as this is the eprom of the device and is not accessible. If it shouws the D: prompt it is because it has no applications loaded. Let me know exactly what do you want to do and i will help you.

The terminals use DR Dos as operative system. Anything you want to download to them normally has to be built into a hex file and you will need a cradle, a null modem cable and winhex or the old dos command called sendhex.exe.

Is it a pdt 3100, 3140 or 3146?

I can send you the operative system files if the terminal is a 3140 or 3146 or you can do a search on the web for LWP and UPD.
